I think he’s much better than that, and a better pro prospect as well, but I see what you’re saying.

He is. Watching Harangody often left you wondering how he was posting the numbers he did. He had a very awkward game. Garza is significantly more polished and skilled.

        Re: NBA Draft 2021

If there wasn't another player who I really wanted at that spot then I would use a late 1st on Garza, definitely would use an early second, but wouldn't use a lottery pick though.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

          Kaman didn’t have any handles.

Garza is out here doing Kevin McHale/Doncic-type moves.

He’s a plug & play big off the bench who can stretch the floor.

If he was an international player, they’d be raving about him.

You know what you’re getting with Garza. Sabonis has no athleticism but was an All-Star.

I’d take even half of that.

I absolutely love that this class was talked about as being so incredible at the top of the draft and this thread is focused on Garza.

I'm not even being sarcastic; I absolutely love it.

It is fun. He's so polarizing. The rest of the class has largely lived up to the hype, there aren't a ton of varying opinions on the Top 10 picks or so, outside of many bailing on Boston.

Good article on Garza's pro potential.

Athleticism is probably one of the most overrated traits when it comes to pro players.

                  Is Jokic athletic?

Saw a Top 50 yesterday and Garza wasn’t on it. SMH.

I also watched Jokic grab a rebound yesterday, turn and push, then thread a 40 foot bounce pass on the money for a dunk. I haven't seen Garza do that.

People bring up Jokic in comps like he isn't the greatest passing big man of all time lol.

There's another category for offensively gifted, but unathletic, slow footed bigs that includes fat Enes Kanter, chunky Jahlil Okafor, Willy Hernangomez, Frank Kaminsky, and Jared Sullinger. Garza seems closer to these guys than Jokic.

His scoring game is far more comparable to Joker than any of them though. From the awkward one legged fade-a-ways down to the foot work in the post. He doesn't pass like Joker but the rest of his offensive game is actually pretty similar. I don't think anyone expects him to compete for best passer in the league and get MVP recognition when they mention his name with Joker.

What does that have to do with athleticism?

It was just an example to say that Jokic’s draft evaluation wasn’t based on his potential athleticism.

Not sure what you mean. Jokic was a 2nd round pick due in large part to questions around his athleticism.

The only difference with Garza is that his 3 ball is quite wet. But the odds are certainly against him.

I still can't believe Okafor couldn't carve out a nice career. Dude is so gifted.
