1. Duncan-This guy is in his prime, age 28, has 2 MVP's, and is good for 22 and 12 every night. He's shown he can win titles, is unstoppable on the block and facing up. He's a good passer, and defensively is a top 5 player b/c of his rebounding, shotblocking, and 1 on 1 defense. His basis as #1 player is bolstered by the fact his team is hands on fav to win the championship.
2. Shaq-no longer the best, b/c he's older now, 33 in March. But he inherited a .500 team that lost 2 good players, but has made Wade better and Miami is 35-15. Regardless of some people who hate Shaq, he has gone to a new team, and suddenly Miami is very good. Shaq get 23 and 11, is near the league lead in shotblocks, and is a very good passer. Has no ability to face up, but is a true center, from the era where big men didn't go outside. Without Shaq, LA is no longer a championship contender, they barely are a playoff team.
3. Lebron-a clear notch below Shaq and Duncan, b/c he's not a great defensive player. 2nd in the L in steals though, also a good rebounder, he's improving rapidly. Offensively, has no peer, b/c he sets all his team up, averaging almost 8 assists. Also shooting near the 50 % gold standard, no other All Star guard except Wade can dominate as a wing by scoring w/o taking a lot of shots. Good for over 25 points per game. The best wing player b/c no player or team can stop him from penetrating for easy shots.
4. KG-Gone down the list b/c his team is bad, but KG is not fully to blame. Good for 23 pts, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists. Good defensively, but not on shaq or Duncan's level. Bad shotblocker for a player of his ability, only averaging 1.3 blocks, which is a less than even Yao Ming. Better than Shaq or Duncan in stepping outside, but not that great a post up player, which is sad b/c he's 7 feet, and so athletic.
5. Dirk-moved past Tmac and Kobe b/c he has improved his defense, is as good a shotblocker as KG, surprisingly, w/1.3 blocks this year, good rebounder too. Offensively, is only surpased by Lebron. Scores over 26 points per game, shoots solid % from the field also. Not only that, his supporting cast is no better than these other superstars, yet Mavs are 31-15 record and a championship contender.
