Re: Name the top 5 players in the NBA today

NO way does Duncan OWN the best bigman title, he is probably the best player in the L, b/c he's all around, but the best big man is Shaq. I know it sounds weird to argue this way, but they're two different things. As a big man, low post, Shaq is better. He draws double and triple teams, whereas Duncan draws the occasional double. shaq also is bigger, and clogs the lane defensively, due to his size.

But I'd take Duncan OVERALL as a player, b/c A)he's younger, B) he's more versatile than Shaq, C) He has better stamina, less foul problems, and can even run the break or bring the ball up in a pinch, + he's a better foul shooter than Shaq.

But to say Duncan OWNS Shaq or clearly dominates Shaq is a lie. Check the numbers over the years, year after year. Has there been a season where Duncan had better numbers? Yes, but the same could be said for Shaq. But Duncan did have D Rob to double Shaq, and last year Shaq checked Duncan pretty well and LA came away w/a win. Shaq's numbers vs. San Antonio the last 7 years or so in the playoffs show Shaq is clearly not outplayed by Duncan, all I hear are people's opinions on the matter, but if u look at the numbers and the fact Shaq has 3 rings to Duncan's 2, it's a very close argument as to who WAS better.

But as of now, I'd take Duncan, b/c Shaq just ain't Shaq anymore, he's 33 and has slowed a LOT. Plus, Duncan, at age 29, is just in his prime, by the end of his career, he could surpass Shaq in terms of titles, and dominance.

Where's Lebron? Iverson over Lebron? WTF. Kobe/Tmac over Lebron? WTF. Lebron at age 20 is having a better season than 3 of those guys you listed. I gotta laugh that he's 20, easily outplaying them this year, and you still put them higher.

                  PPG-24.3 RPG-23.8 APG-8.6

that's allround big man duncan hasnt pass 4 assits per game in his all career

while k.g has done 6 before

one of the years k.g did six was one that TD one mvp and if its all about stats heres another thing

PPG RPG APG SPG BPG T.O
                  KG 23.0 13.4 6.0 1.38 1.57 2.79
                  TD 23.3 12.9 3.9 .68 2.93 3.06

k.g had an all around better season then TD

and J kidd not only led his team to the finals almost avg 10 assists he avg 9.9
and led a team that had a losing season prior to the one j kidd didnt play wit them

Why SHOULD Duncan shoot 3's when he can kick arse in the paint? Does that mean every 2 guard is better than Shaq b/c they can shoot 3's, have handles, and shaq's range is about 8 feet max. This stuff is hilarious, saying KG is better b/c he's got better range or handles, that stuff don't matter, b/c Duncan and KG are 7 foot and at their best when near the basket anyway. And what is KG? a 30 % 3 point shooter? Wow, that is the icing on the cake, he can shoot 30 % from 3 and Duncan can't. Big deal, MJ was a mediocre 3 point shooter, yet he's the greatest ever. You're using the wrong litmus test to define who's better.

Actually KG's stats are better than Duncan's this year. KG has alot more assists, alot more rebounds and the points are a wash.

BUT Duncan is the better player, no question.

Tim Duncan's teams have been able to beat the Lakers in the Playoffs, KG's teams haven't.

                          Top 5 in the NBA:
                          Kobe
