Some Lakers fans panicking about the roster already as expected. At least wait until we're 3-7 or something before doing that. This season if we make the playoffs with a healthy roster is all that matters to me, then we'll see what happens.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -

It's lack of familiarity for me because I'm so used to them being a great rebounding team that had a huge paint presence and rim-protection ability between AD, McGee, and Howard. This is a pretty drastic change from a formula that won a championship so it's just gonna take getting used to. If I understand their philosophy, they wanted to be a more explosive offensive team to not have to rely pretty much solely on LeBron/AD which I understand but it's clear there was some big (pun intended) sacrifices for that to happen.Comment

"Several Houston Rockets, including John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and possibly more, are expected to miss tonight's season opener vs. OKC due to coronavirus contact tracing, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium."
Wonder how many and if it would affect status of gameComment

Come playoff time JaVale only played 5 minutes, Dwight 15. JaVale didn't even play in the finals, Dwight only averaged 11 minutes. They both played 7 minutes anight in the Houston series and neither even played in every game.
You can't say they won a championship because of this formula when they basically all but abandoned that formula for most of the playoffs and particularly the finals lol. That "formula" served a purpose against Denver sure, but so will Marc and Harrell because it's Joker.
They thrived with playing Morris and AD and mostly sitting their "bigs", they only improved on that strategy by adding Harrell. Give it more than 1 damn game before acting like they've abandoned some championship formula altogether and now have made giant sacrifices.Comment

The way it would work is they can waive Cook on Feb 24th which is 3 days before the roster deadlines and when Cook's contract would become fully guaranteed. Doing this would then allow them to sign 2 prorated league minimum players.
Basically, it seems likely the Lakers will waive Cook just before his contract becomes guaranteed and use that flexibility to try and land players in that buyout market. Dedmon/McGee, Ariza, etc. You'll just have to wait a couple months before they can do it.Comment

In very Hawks like after having like 10 months off to still be short handed in the opener because of injuries. Capela, Kris Dunn, Rondo, Tony Snell, 0017 (rookie 6th pick).
Available roster for the Hawks tonight:
Young, Goodwin (probable)
Bogdanovic, Huerter, Reddish, Hunter, Mays (2 way)
Collins, Gallinari, Hill, Fernando, Knight (2 way)Last edited by georgiafan; 12-23-2020, 06:32 PM.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Anybody think teams should take an automatic L if they can't field a full team?
Seems kind of unfair that the team being responsible has to have their schedule changed. If anything, they should be REWARDED with a WComment

Hard to answer until I know which way is more beneficial to the Knicks.

I think if they can’t field a team because they violated the rules that the league put in place, they should forfeit.
It sounds like this situation might have just been some bad luck, which is more forgivable IMO (unless the team getting together to get a haircut at one of their houses actually violates the policy but I don’t think it does).

Yea. I guess I just don't like the idea that one team can get a redo at full strength. Meanwhile another team will be forced to play short handed, missing key guys in their rotation, simply because they don't hit a certain threshold

I think if the Harden footage ends up heavily implicating him then the NBA need massive punishment for him. We have DeAndre Ayton miss over a quarter of a season for a diuretic. The covid policy needs to be harsher than the drug policy. We have a dude in open rebellion against his team but in doing so is endangering lives. I don’t agree with the methods he seems to be using to try to force through his trade regardless but this is reckless and the league should hit him hard for it.
As for the other players who tested positive, it could be circumstantial anyway. I think we have to be prepared for a lot of games being postponed especially as we get deeper into the winter, particularly in colder areas.

Yea I can see why someone would say that however it’s not always going to be someone’s fault they get the virus. If someone gets it from his wife from being at home then it spreads through the team it’s hard to punish the team for that. If it had been Hardin who brought it to the rockets after his stuff that would be different.

Nah. I’m not into forfeiting games.
A fine if the player was being reckless. Team fine for multiple violations.
But people are gonna get the virus. It’s inevitable.Comment
