Haha MGO, I heard about this last night at 11

I have talked to several people in the "know" and it is has nothing to do with Artest. The Pacers have stressed that.

It is weird S-Jax and JO will be there, and it is at Center Court (where the Pacers make all the proganiztions big announcements there)

that's cool, just thought I'd mention it...no one really knew what it was for, so everything was speculation...I do think that Artest will be back for the playoffs though...I don't think David Stern's gonna be able to keep that one for the year.

I have thought that for business reasons he may be allowed back. I was more focusing on Stern not wanting this to drag over into the summer and then have to deal with it next season (its not a matter of if, but when fans throw objects at Artest during his upcoming road games)

Actually there was a Q and A that I saw that I really liked, let me see if I can dig it up.

                Here you go:

Question: Do you have any thoughts as to why Mr. Stern would leave the door open for Ron Artest to return this season? (Jeremy from Schaumburg, Ill.)

                Answer: There are several.

He might have had a change of heart after having time to review the incident in Detroit unemotionally. A lot of people in and out of the NBA believe he made a knee-jerk over-reaction. Perhaps he agrees. He also might be impressed with Artest's efforts to help himself during the suspension.

There also are political reasons. I hear that the owners are upset with him because he showed he's willing to decimate a franchise with suspensions. He might want to appease them. He also might want to appease the players association a bit heading into negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement.

Of course he might not do anything, and leave Artest suspended for the rest of the season.
