"Sources: Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving will be cleared for home games as New York City will on Thursday change private sector vaccine mandate to allow exemption for athletes and entertainers in workplace. Unvaccinated Yankees and Mets players also now eligible for home games."

A big win for common sense. But exemption for athletes and entertainers sounds awful.

As stupid as the whole Kyrie being able to sit court-side but not play thing was (and I thought he should have been allowed from the jump) I don’t love the idea of separating athletes/entertainers from the “normal” people. Either change the mandate or don’t, but the special permissions stuff is a little off-putting IMO.

They should’ve made exemptions for them early on like Philly, Boston and LA(I think)did or allowed him to play in the beginning like they did other unvaxxed athletes/performers. Or left it up to the employers themselves.

But it was always going to come to this though, especially once they allowed vacinnated/unvaccinated folks to be in the same area together.

That's where they literally make up beef over anything and settle it in the squared circle...all the while the commentators are hyping up every interaction to the max and the backstage crew is using cheesy gimmicks to build it's own hype train.

What's so wrong about having a little of that "sports entertainment" here?

If I had to choose between them just treating as a normal game or building a bit of energy with a more manufactured storyline...give me the latter every time [emoji23]

Hell, give me players cutting promos before playoff games! Could you imagine?! It would be stupendous!
