    Re: NBA Off Topic Thread

Yesterday was probably the most excitement/interest the league will have for the rest of the season until the playoffs/Finals gets here.

And all they have to show for it is…Twitter engagement??? 🤷🏾*♂️🤷🏾*♂️🤷🏾*♂️

Random and probably oversharing, but the first couple times I heard "Be Humble" I thought Kendrick was saying "Biyombo" and was really confused like why make a song about him? Why you telling Biyombo to sit down?

I always knew he was saying be humble but my brother and I have always joked about it sounded like Biyombo lol.

In my defense the first couple times I heard the song it was like background noise, like someone playing it at a party or something.

I realized the truth in an equally random way. Me and some buddies were playing Madden. Two other guys were on the sticks and I was waiting for next. One got an interception and stood up talking smack and my other friend just said "be humble, sit down" and thats when it hit me.

Anyway each time I watch the Suns its something I remember lol

MJ is 60 today, that feels so weird to say out loud.

The way he's stayed out of the spotlight for so long you could gave said 65 and I wouldn't have been surprised. His career feels like it was forever ago.

It didn't hit me until recently but for a large number of NBA fans the only time they saw him play was Wizards Jordan, or some highlight reels from youtube which are usually tilted towards footage from the 90s.

Caught me by surprise how many current fans think Jordan's primary claim to the throne is two three peats and thats it

When he won his last title vs Utah, I was 14. I’m 39 now, so it makes sense. Guys I grew up watching as a kid are old now, and it’s a bit weird. I was at the hall of fame last year watching The Undertaker get inducted, and I remember thinking he would’ve retired way back around 2003 or so.

Watching Inside and seeing Shaq looking older bugs me sometimes too.

To be fair, Undertaker should've retired back in 2012. That HHH match inside hell in a cell would've been storybook ending.

As for Shaq, it's crazy how he's getting to the Barkely/Kenny level in terms of there being a notable amount of current fans who only know him for Inside and not as an actual player.

I didn't watch NBA when Barkley was playing, so I only knew him from Inside and Space Jam lol.

Interesting idea apparently thrown around by the NBA.

Regular season awards might require players to qualify to be eligible for them.

As in, you can't win MVP if you play something like 60 games.

This probably doesn't impact "load management" as much as they'd hope, but I wonder how it would be recieved.

Or if a guy has it in his contract where he gets a bonus if he's voted in to the NBA All __ Team, but won't be eligible due to sitting out too many games.

                                I think its an overcorrection.

In general there aren't any specific players being rested a lot. Its only a problem in aggregate.
I'm drawing a blank on how to word it, but its like this. Player A may get a game off anywhere from 5-10 times a season. In a vacuum thats not a problem (pulling numbers out of my hat so don't come at me if they're wrong)

But then when you have players x,y,z also getting their nights off is when its a problem because we could get a game between two teams and they both chose that day to give their top guy a rest.

Adjusting the requirements for an award, I'm not on board with that. What happens if there is a clear MVP but he's not eligible because he rolled his ankle back in December?

If load management is really a problem, have the league office micromanage it. Designate which games are rest eligible and which are not, and each team gets a limited number of rest days. I don't like it, but it seems like the most direct way to address it
