If you can play you should play.

    Its that simple.

Or at least try to play.

Its hilarious how you are fine with players not doing what they are paid to do but then criticize journalists and such for doing what they are paid to do.

Back to back games is a bs excuse.

Sitting even 1 game with this excuse is 1 game to many.

“Or at least try to play”

What makes you so sure that they’re not?

      *Speaking in general here below*

Ultimately at the end of the day, fans do not care about process. Just like when a team loses a game, most fans aren’t going to “Well let me wait for the film to come out before I start assigning the most blame”. They’re going to assign blame right after just because their team lost, lol

Same thing with this issue. Most fans aren’t going to care to hear the process in what makes a player play or get held out, just like they’ll very rarely side with a player on this issue.

Do I think this is something that needs to be brushed aside? No because at the end of the day, this is a business first and foremost. And with TV Deal renegotiation time almost here, it’s going to be at the forefront(and also why this article from the Athletic came out in the first place, this league knows what it’s doing, lol)

Do I also think folks are get real dramatic about this subject? Absolutely lol. This is the one subject with the NBA where Fans will refuse to hear any type of context or even try to understand why guys aren’t playing every games.

Now I know how other people feel when I respond to certain topics.

The crux of the issue for me is the same as it ever was. People are paying real life money for these performances and they're having the rug pulled out from underneath them now more than ever. That's a problem for a game as star-centered as basketball.

There's nothing that says that load management was in its final form either. It's unknowable now but I personally have little doubt that it would have gotten worse, to the point that some people would eventually have cornered themselves into the the position of, "Star players don't have an obligation to play any regular season games at all if their team can technically make the playoffs without them."

In essence, when you're being paid to do a job, especially one so heavily dependent on your appearance and presence, I think it's okay to have an expectation that you fulfill your contractual requirements.

And from a fan's perspective, I wouldn't accept buying tickets to my favorite band only to find they're load managing when they come to Detroit on account of the drummer having a sore calf and not being terribly enthused about the venue. Just the same, I don't willingly accept someone like Steph skipping out on his one trip to Detroit as a precautionary measure after playing in Chicago the night prior.
This is it for me. It's one of the reasons I elected not to renew my Hawks season tickets a few years ago.

I am not praying and hoping that Luka or LeBron plays on a back to back when/if they swing through Atlanta in January. I am not doing it. If a dude is hurt that's one thing. If it's the very end of the season and a guy sits to rest for the playoffs, I personally understand that. Those tickets arent any cheaper though when the stars come to town. I dont care for whatever other reasons for not playing, especially on the road.

I am not gonna complain and moan about it, though. I'll just buy my tickets closer to the actual date when I have a better idea of who may actually play. The NBA is my second favorite sport behind college football and it's the only one I now wait to purchase tickets for. I just purchased tickets for a comedy show my wife wants to see March 9th, I wouldn't dare buy tickets for Warriors at Hawks today for a game in March.

I follow the same exact process when it comes to buying tickets. I'll even wait until the week of or day of to buy tickets to Nets games. Knicks tickets are a hell no. Because as someone mentioned last year. Knicks tickets are crazy expensive.

I'm a huge fan of basketball aesthetics and in a number of ways we're going through a bit of a nightmare phase. Bally Sports carpet bombs their games with advertisements on nearly every inch of the floor that isn't already covered with something else and team identities are bouncing around on a year-to-year basis.

What's worse is that teams are mandated to move on from certain jerseys after a single season no matter how excellent the design. The Pistons actually struck gold with their red alternates for the league's 75th anniversary but they're instant relics now because they were forced to abandon them following a single season. It feels like we've traded out the days where teams chose the best ideas for their jersey designs and swapped them out for all of their ideas for jersey design.

I've also thought about how weird it's going to be looking back on this era where it becomes tough to pin down a sense of cohesive team identity when looking back at a given team or player's career. Cade Cunningham has played 76 career games and I'm pretty sure by the time November's over he'll have rocked close to eight different Pistons jerseys.

And what makes it worse is that it's obvious Nike is running out of ideas. They are either going ultra generic or trying to hard to differentiate them. When the next deal begins(hopefully different company), there is either a multi-year span or at least give team option to do new ones

Like I said before, I'm actually surprised they have been hush hush on most of the alternates this year. Last few years, the alternates were leaked. This year they kept a closed lid

The NBA’s new CBA will make it challenging for homegrown teams to retain their talent, but Calvin Booth and the Nuggets are trying to create a new, sustainable model. “If everything is optimized, we should win three or four [titles],” Booth said.

GM Calvin Booth was extra honest lol. You don't see it often where a GM is on the record being very candid on players and the why to the decisions that were made

You’re not going to like the other companies either, trust me lol

If the choices are Nike, Adidas, UA Puma or Reebok(lol), you’ll settle for Nike. They already had Adidas and Reebok back in the day and folks weren’t a fan of them at the time.

I always conspiratorialize (I may or may not have made up this word) that 2K needs these unis because the gamer controls and roster updates aren't enough, people love them some uni debates (to which I have now contributed)

Oh yes, I was very pro-reds. I thought it was an outstanding 75th anniversary-inspired homage to our team's history. The lightning bolts of the Vitale era, the font of the Bing era, the complementary pieces of teal from, well, the teal era, plus my favorite alternate Pistons jersey base color (red). It checked a lot of boxes for me.

The fact I had to Google what our statement jersey was from last year is basically my whole problem with the NBA's jerseys these days. I can't keep things straight with the revolving door of designs year in and year out.
