In a perfect world, he can come back with 2-3 weeks to ramp up for the playoffs. But, I rather get the surgery and try to be as healthy as he can be for playoffs.

Hopefully they can tread water and stay at least out of the play-in. I don't want to call the season a wash just yet. I wonder how they will approach the trade deadline. I don't just want to stand pat. I don't like the Cap Space Path by just standing path. Most of the key free agents and likely staying put and don't want to bank on trading for the next disgruntled star. Ideally, Sixers need a semi-starter/backup Center and another wing player.

Forbes confirms Raptors doing a rebrand for their 30th season.

Last time they did a full rebrand was 15/16 I believe. Copying the Nets logo which was not one of the logos I would've copied if we had to copy one.

Their current look is probably my least fave of all they've done. Everyone just bought into the hype of the chevron because that was the jersey they won the title in, and that jersey plus their chevron city jersey did big sales as well because they were 1 year jerseys AND Kawhi obviously boosted it a lot too. Team just ran with it full time later on and realize the novelty died down very quickly.

I want a new logo and a new jersey.

Some modernized version of one of their original alternate logos perhaps.

As for jerseys, you have to do modernized retros.

The black and gold pinstripe city Dino one was probably their best alternate ever.

Keep their white, red, black colour schemes, but make 2 of those jerseys modelled after the Bosh era look, 1 of them being the old school pinstripe dino look. And HWC jersey being the Vince Carter 00s look.

All that talk seemed pretty harmless from everyone. The guy can't stay healthy, and somehow hasn't played against Jokic since 2020. Says more about the amount of time he has missed than anything. I know LeBron and Draymond have popped off about it. Neither are particularly objective lol.

where are you getting this info? I could swear Jokic and Embiid went head to head like a month ago and it was awesome

I misread the stats, he hasn't played at Denver since 2019.

Completely random but somewhat interesting stat (somewhat limited minutes obviously)..

Since leaving Toronto OG has the highest on/off difference in the league with NY for this season, and the highest on/off difference in opponent points/possession.

Since leaving Toronto Siakam has the 2nd highest on/off difference in the league this season for his minutes with Indiana. He also has the highest on/off difference in team points/possession.

Anthony Irwin with updates on the LeBron and Lakers management issues. Bullets are paraphrased.
                          • LeBron has a breaking point and it’s getting to that point with ownership and the front office.

                          • Started when Lakers failed to hire Ty Lue.

                          • Second time was Pelinka leaking to outlets that it was LeBron and AD’s idea to trade for Westbrook, when Pelinka was actually all-in as well. (Note: Magic also noted he quit because he was tired of Pelinka’s backstabbing)

                          • Third time was when LeBron explicitly asked the Lakers to trade Westbrook during the summer. But management did not, instead hired a coach for Westbrook, only to wait til the the deadline to trade Westbrook anyway. LeBron was happy with the trade that he was excited to run it back last summer with the new guys… but unfortunately Darvin Ham didn’t get the memo.

                          • Fourth time is when LeBron made it known within that Ham isn’t working out, and Lakers should get someone else. But Pelinka then immediately leaked to everybody that Lakers are not firing Ham.

                          • Irwin believes not firing Ham could be the one time too many that LeBron has had enough with Lakers ownership. “LeBron wants to retire a Laker but he also doesn’t want to be taken advantage of.”

Third point sorta piggybacks off an update given last month when multiple players/sources leaked to Shams & co that there was a disconnect between Ham and the team.. Irwin reported that the trust from Rob and Jeanie has basically gone to Ham's head and he's changed as a coach as communication with his players has broken off.. Supposedly far more sources that the ones that came forward initially as well.

He also broke some trade news.. Murray trade has gone to a stalemate with Atlanta, Lakers no longer feel there is a DLo trade that makes them better, still looking for a trade with the Nets (DFS mentioned). Also mentioned why actual Lakers trades rarely leak and why it's always Woj.

Irwin explains how any Laker trades are kept secret and is usually broken by Woj.

The way Pelinka does business “I’ve been told” he gathers all information and locks himself in a room at times with Darvin Ham, and they make their roster decisions together. In this case, there are only a handful of reporters Pelinka talks to directly and that’s why it’s always almost just Woj/Shams that break them, but mostly just Woj because Pelinka has been a guess in a lot of his podcast shows.

Guess we'll see what happens at the deadline tomorrow.

Raptors as usual involved in a bunch of random rumors, we'll see if any happens.

Bruce Brown is most likely to be traded, but I heard another rumor saying Boucher has even been included in one proposal, which would only make sense if it's some big salary guy coming back, which I think only happens if Raptors get multiple picks back to take on a big cap dump that they probably release anyways.

Also heard Russell to the Raptors in a deal for Bruce who the Lakers seem to really want.

Personally this is the kind of crap that makes me a LeBron ***** tbh.

Each of those points of contention are basically examples of LeGM.

I think we all sat here on this board during the Rus stories and agreed that maybe the Lakers FO shouldn't dance to LeBron's wishes anymore.

I mean yes, but I think the takeaway is he’s not wrong either.

I’m torn on this because on one hand every team with a player(s) of Bron and AD’s caliber are going to be getting their input to some degree. Whether or not it’s leaked or people make stories about it is another thing.

Bron was frustrated that first year there and they played the patience game. They finally pulled the trigger in the off-season though and instantly got a ring… they pulled the trigger on the Russ trade which was a Bron, AD, and apparently front office move but they turned around and made sure the noise went to Bron.. which is fine because he likely did play a huge role, but they made sure to avoid any blame just like the stuff with Magic.

It was obvious they needed to move Russ, again they drug their feet. They fired a coach they won a ring with when Russ and Vogel didn’t get along. Only to give him the same right to bench him that made Russ mad at Vogel to being with. Jeanie was in the media talking about how Russ was basically her favorite too, they didn’t want to get blame from making the trade. They trade Russ, bam back to the WCF. But who knows what a whole year of chemistry would have looked like, or a package for a player who didn’t completely disappear like DLo did.

Now the whole team is done with Ham. DLo, Bron, AD, AR, Rui... but they are still backing him because they don’t want to look wrong, and don’t want to be paying two coaches.. same stuff they did with not wanting to look wrong with THT, and cheeping out to not pay Caruso.. they have Ham’s back even though he’s ditched the WCF lineup in favor of playing Cam and Prince 40 minutes each when healthy because they were his guys in Atlanta.

I’m not saying it’s easy to run a team with someone like Bron trying to put some pressure on you.. but they have been half in since he got there and you don’t get a player like that, trade half your future to get a player like AD, and then play the half in game because you don’t want to spend money or look like you might have made a wrong choice on something.

You either go all-in or you don’t, and I’m sure Bron would be fine with either one so long as they make up their mind, up until basically now Bron has said he wanted to retire there. Wasn’t until last week he responded that he didn’t know what he was doing with his player option this off-season. Not saying Bron is just a peach for doing that either but he’s playing the only card he and his teammates have right now. If you aren’t bought in with your coach you’re likely only going so far. It feels like Ham has slowly and slowly been losing more and more guys. And if that report is accurate and he basically doesn’t care because Rob/Jeanie has his back then that’s a problem.

Milwaukee didn’t play this game that’s for sure. Nets didn’t play this game with Nash.. Not that it always works out but you can always hire another mid-tier coach your players aren’t happy with. You can’t always land two generational stars.
