Not a single dunk in the contest I'd give a 50 to. Even that last one I think it's only given 50 because they wanted to make sure he won because he was better than Brown, but not a 50 though.

They really need to make the 3pt contest the final one, we've said that for several years but they won't ever change it.

Mac was the best one. But his stuff wasn't even that great. The crowd wasnt that enthused as far as I could tell. Somehow the 3 point contest was better lol

Now we get a crappy all star game tomorrow. Sad.

He’s played very well in summer league and g-league. I know it’s a different animal in the NBA but I would assume it’s the lack of “potential”. He’s probably good enough to make a roster but there is likely no shot he develops into a really good version of any type of player. Teams will almost always use those last spots for someone who isn’t 6’1 and has potential to be great at something.

Another year of guys committing a litany of the dunk contest's original sins:

          1. A lack of energy and enthusiasm from most contestants

          2. Not reading the room by utilizing obscure props that go over many viewers' heads and/or don't have the impact the dunker thinks it will (left glove, the homage to Terrence Clark, randomly wearing a backwards hat)

          3. Foregoing creativity to just leapfrog over various humans, always pushing down on the ball as it's pinned on the helper's neck to gain an extra mid-air boost

          4. Not putting your dunks down cleanly nor putting extensive critical thought into your dunk selections

I'm fond of Mac McClung's approach to dunking but it seems he was the first one to acknowledge that his performance didn't match what he brought to the table last year. Tonight was probably the embodiment of what Vince Carter feared when considering a return to the contest '01 - the almost impossible-to-meet expectations of coming back for a second contest after so thoroughly blowing up the spot your first time through.

Even then, whatever McClung did tonight was still far and away better than anything almost any other contest brought to the table this evening.

Yeah, dunking 'over' someone has become the new 'random props' that plagued that contest after Blake and Dwight killed it with the leaping over a car and the Superman cape.

Guys need to realize the actual impact of the dunk matters just as much.

It's not just being able to jump high or do some sort of spin if your fingertips graze the rim as the ball just makes it into the hoop.

Vince Carter's dunks were perfect for that very reason. He didn't just hit great dunks and on his first attempt, he did it with such intensity too it felt like the rims would break.

All I have to add is the Jaylen Brown Dee Brown cover eye dunk where he didn’t actually cover his eyes until he landed was absolute trash lol.

WNBA has their own All-Star weekend already. I think Mac brought something refreshing to last years dunk contest but just overall the more and more **** they try to add to this that isn’t focused on the stars of the NBA just further pushes the annoyance most people have with the weekend in general.

If you polled all NBA fans I would assume 90+% would tell you they want the players treating the game slightly more serious than they do, and the best dunkers to actually be in the dunk contest.

All this other gimmicky **** just highlights that they can’t build a weekend around their product.. in other words trying to distract everyone from the actual problem.

And yet he somehow ended up in the final lol Jaime and Toppin were better then anything JB has to offer. I still don't get it. And it's not like any of them did anything special. But everything JB did was basic as it could get.
