Apparently, Chuck and Shaq and Kenny not providing insightful analysis is the reason why people aren’t enjoying the NBA.
Yeah. I thought about that, but didn't include it because I could have sworn I saw it brought up that the other big leagues have seen their numbers increase...unless we're saying that alternative methods are unique to NBA

But I admit it I did not look into this AT ALL and just assumed that nugget of information was correct. I don't even know what the source was. Could have been from someone praying on the leagues downfall and champing at the bit to blame the "woke" [emoji23]

Looks like the 76ers/Flyers will be getting a new arena around the same spot they're in now which seems like best case scenario.

Interestingly enough, Wells Fargo's naming rights are up after this season, but would someone buy the rights for what would just be 5 years until the new venue is built?

Also seems like the Flyers owners (Comcast) would have the rights to choosing a new name at the new venue, but could we have a situation like a decade ago where the 76ers refused to acknowledge the arena name if whoever owns the naming rights ends up not being a sponsor (or a competitor of one of their sponsors)?

Never made sense as to why they wanted to leave that location just to go a mile into the city. Not like they have issues getting people to the Complex with all 4 of your pro teams being literal neighbors.

That’s a perfect set up right there.

Where do people weigh in on this:

Wemby gifted/traded a little kid in the crowd his game jersey.

A few weeks later the jersey is up for auction.

On one hand, if you have something valuable why not try selling it if you want/need to? The money from this probably pays for a lot (hopefully the parents put the money in to a college fund or something for the kid). On the other hand, this definitely just sounds like the parents used the little kid to get something from a player (Wemby in this case since the kid had a sign) just so they could sell it.

If I was a player and I'm doing autographs for anyone, I'm personally inscribing it too. You want something signed, sure, who should I make it out to? It's YOURS, not auction winner #10584929.

Only problem I would have with this would be if the kid wanted to keep the jersey. That aside, much ado about nothing.

Love this video of KG talking about the modern NBA, and how it's all about "on to the next" these days.

I'm kind of happy that Jimmy Butler is burning his relationship with the Heat to the ground. I remember how much flak I've gotten for speaking up about his lack of professionalism (or being a bad teammate) on past teams.

Dude is a hooper and overachiever (his life story is inspirational, IMO), but he's also a malcontent that thinks he's better than he actually is.

Reminds me of a much, much better version of Stephen Jackson. And he burned just as many bridges as Jimmy with less talent. [emoji38]

This isn't an April fools joke and feels like change for the sake of change
PARIS — The NBA is changing the shape of the shot clock. The NBA, WNBA, and G League will start using the new one — the circle one — starting next season.

Not that starters really matter with the format we have, I feel like they only keep it because of tradition/player bonuses, but NBA ASG voting:

                    Some notes on voting:
SGA and Curry were 1-2 on everyone's ballot for backcourt (fans, media, players)

Jokic was 1 on everyone's ballot

LeBron was 2 on player and fans but 4 on media

Media voted Wemby 2nd and Davis 3rd (ahead of LeBron and KD who were 2nd and 3rd in the player/fans ballots)

Wiggins with the disrespect by players, he finished 21st in player voting but top 10 in fan and media voting. That might be biggest discrepancy between players vs fans/media.

Mitchell was 1 in player and media and 2 in fan voting

Brunson was 2nd in player and media and 3 in fan

LaMelo was 1st in fan voting, 3rd in player, and 7th in media

                    Giannis was 1st for all

Tatum was 2nd for player and fan and tied 1st for media

                    KAT was 3rd for all

Adam "Manfred" Silver with an idea thrown out about changing the game.

People always talk about shortening the season but the big negative is less games means less money from tickets and sponsors.

Silvers suggestion is making games 40 mins instead of 48. So technically over the course of 82 games that's about 14 fewer games if you look at it that way.

In a way it makes sense but I also know it'll be hated so much.

If games go to 40 mins, will that impact "load management" at all? Or will we just see the exact same game just with the starters playing more of the game since their 30mpg is now 75% of the game as opposed to 63% of it?

No one ever liked Manfred at any point, but Silver was the ideal commissioner, fans of other sports wanted to bring him in to commission other leagues. But now that things aren't as easy Silver is a mess.

It continues....Terry Rozier could possibly be connected to that whole betting scandal which also involved former NBA player Jontay Porter.

Sounds like the people who were part of Porter's betting stuff also placed a huge bet against Rozier in 2023.

It's one thing if some bench scrub like Porter got banned, but if an actual regular NBA starter got banned, that'd be something else.

But the NBA said no rules were broken lol. Yeah, no one should trust these leagues to investigate themselves on this stuff, or even to have the right mechanisms in place to prevent it. We're only hearing about this stuff happening when it reaches a certain monetary level. I would bet that it's happening way way way more than we hear.

I’ve always been a PF or Center when I created myself on basketball games. I’ve never been the best shooter or had the greatest handles, but I do feel like I have good fundamentals and knowledge of playing in the post and defending well.
