Well Nico, on the upside, you won't have to worry about ever working in the NBA if this doesn't work out.

It just feels so suspicious all around. Even the fan reaction, normally in a move like this you might have people be like "lol Mavs are stupid", which is how fans react to most one sided trades, but this time fans feel bad for the Mavs fans/players and are wondering what's going on. There has to be something there if that's people's gut feeling.
I'm not buying the conditioning aspect. If that's the case, then Pelicans should've moved on from Zion, Sixers should've moved on from Embiid a couple years ago. Heck, Denver was in a similar position a couple years ago. Jokic has never looked like he was in good shape. What if they moved on from him after the Bubble. Jokic learned what he had to do to get through a deep playoff run. Luka wasn't even healthy in the finals.

That's not a valid argument imo. Just because other teams didn't doesn't mean it canno't be true this time.

Let's see all of the excuses that they gave:

          - Defensive liability. Err, so they think that much older and equally injury flakier Kyrie is stellar shutdown defender at 6'2"?
          - Not reliable due to poor conditioning. Guy played 90 games last year averaging 39-40 minutes with at least 2 defenders always hanging on him.Again see Kyrie for this one as well
          - They were not certain if he will resign with them. He just bought 15 million dollar house in Dallas area.

All appears to come down to one of more of these :

          a) Owners didn't want to pay max deal. Even then , you would try to maximize deal not to get small return. No matter how good fit that it is.Davis is no slouch but still it's meager return
          b) NBA is down 25% in viewership this year and to Adam Silver that is only thing that matters(he said so himself other day). So owners get to move to LV for him or something like that.(i know conspiracy theory but..)
          c) There is something terribly wrong with Luka. That is like 0.0005% chance but still an option
          d) GM is certifiably nuts....

I don't see any viable reasoning past that.

Sixers trade Caleb Martin to Mavs for Grimes and Phi 2025 2nd round pick back.

Feels like Sixers are trying to get under the luxury tax line. So, I wouldn't be surprised if KJ Martin gets traded as well. Allittle funny that Philly plays Dallas tonight, so they must have gotten together after shoot around to get this deal done. Caleb has been oft-injured all year and Grimes is shooting 40% 3pt, so I'll take it

honestly think Grimes is the better player as well. Nico is on a roll right now.

Better, younger, cheaper, and healthier. Caleb has constantly been injured all year and only had a good week or so stretch around Christmas. I get that he didn't agree to an extension. But, I don't think Grimes/his agents understands the market. The middle class is getting cut out. I don't imagine Grimes getting more than what Caleb is making now($8M). Grimes fits a need for the Sixers. Grimes can play alongside Maxey or McCain. They aren't forced to play Reggie Jackson. Justin Edwards and Ricky Council's play of late made Martin expendable

I guess Martin gives them more defensive versatility and occasional hotstreak. Glad I don't have to look at the funky jumpshot lol. But, trading Grimes when they already were short with capable guards is questionable

A question I saw regarding the Doncic trade. Obviously "what if" scenarios mean nothing but I thought it was fun to look at.

If this was 2014/15 Anthony Davis over the 24/25 AD, how much would that change how people viewed the deal.

14/15 AD was a top 5 player in the NBA.

What a crappy trade for the Bucks.

All star for a downward stat player.

And trading a 1st rounder too, but, that doesn't mean squat,

Bucks don't develop young players much. Undrafted AJ Green has been

nice to watch grow and is a exception, not the norm. I can't tell you how

                      disappointing this is.

Puzzling, the only take is that the trade allows the Bucks to get below the 2nd apron.

                          More to follow ?

Not a good look on paper or the court, though.

Kuzma's shooting 28% from three this season. At the same time that whole wizards squads don't really give a **** anymore.

Describing Middleton as an all-star in 2025 is a huge stretch. It's not even totally clear how playable he was going to be once we get into the playoffs. His jumper and passing are still nice, but he can barely move at this point and was going to be targeted defensively against pretty much any of the contenders (barring his athleticism coming back as the year goes on).

It's a bummer that this is ultimately the return for a guy that will go down as one of the best Bucks players of all-time, but it is what it is. Kuzma is certainly a gamble; he's had a horrendous season so far and has developed a lot of bad habits over the last few years in the basketball Hell that is Washington DC. The hope is with a smaller offensive burden in Milwaukee and actual offensive threats around him, Kuzma will go back to being the decent defender and pretty good rebounder that he was earlier in his career. Shooting should improve as his shot quality will almost certainly be much better in Milwaukee than it was in DC and once upon a time, he was a helpful cutter, board crasher, etc. that we could really use.

If we get the version of Kuzma that he's been this season, this will obviously go down as a terrible trade, but even relative to his other underwhelming Wizards seasons, this year has been a major outlier for him.
