Granted, I think Dallas will immediately get another team (expansion or relocated).
Don't teams have to vote on relocation though? I'm sure teams wouldn't really want them to move.

If anything they get more money from Vegas expansion since you likely have more owners willing to jump in with their ownership group and paying the 1B+ expansion fees which would likely cover a year of a max players salary on each team.

Mavs putting up tributes to Luka on social media, as if he played there for 10+ years and they didn't just ship him off completely out of the blue. Truly bizarre.

Yes, but remember the Adelson family helped build Las Vegas and probably have very powerful allies.

Also, look at how easy the Seattle to OKC move went down:
          • Sonics purchased by ownership group based in OKC
          • "Failed" to secure funding for new arena
          • Attendance down
          • Owners file a relocation with the league and gets approval

Maybe I'm cynical, but the Mavs are in a very similar situation right now minus the last step.

Remember it's the same GM that lost Nike 100s of millions of dollars after he botched the Steph Curry resigning by calling him his brother, misspelling his name, and reusing the Durant pitch (forgot to remove stuff specific to KD).

I highly recommend reading this: https://digginbasketball.substack.co...a-doncic-trade. The guy is a power hungry, quack job who didn't have ANY operations people in on his little trade. And there's more like:
            • A person close to the situation described this trade as the ultimate Harrison power trip, calling him a power-hungry man. Another observer said Harrison removed anyone who held a different view. I’m not close enough to say there’s no other perspective on this situation. These are the views of people who either left or don’t necessarily align with the current vision.
            • There is a well-documented list of people close to Dončić who have left or were forced out since Harrison took over. (full list at link above...it's long lol).

It's amazing how each one of the quotes from the Mavs GM keeps getting worse somehow.

TIL Harrison had a much better deal for Luka that included multiple first round picks and Dalton Knecht. This keeps getting worse.

The part I'll never understand is how they didn't contact anyone else.

It's not like Doncic was some injured guy who hasn't played in 2 years who has an expiring deal. He's literally one of the top players in basketball.

And that makes it sound WORSE.

You wanted a specific price, they said no, said your assets aren't valuable, here's a worse offer, and you don't think for a second "If they don't want to trade for the price I'm asking, maybe I could try shopping him around to other teams"

It's the most insane part of this. It makes no sense. how do you not listen to HOU/OKC etc and teams like that. He's 25! Teams would've given up their godfather offer for this guy. Also you did not have to make this deal right now. the conspiracy theories don't seem far fetch. that's how insane this situation is.

Well, if Nico Harrison is to be believe at all, he mentioned during the press conference that the "team" wanted AD and only AD. I use "team" loosely because he also made it clear nobody knew what he was doing. One of the many times he said something that refuted something he said earlier.

I've seen Raptors fans saying they'd give up Scottie Barnes if it meant getting Doncic.

Absolutely no way teams wouldn't have given up more.

Even if his health was an issue, just look at the Kawhi deal if you want to compare a superstar with health issues. Spurs got a young player, an all star and a 1st round pick for a guy who didn't want to play for their team again who has questions about his health.

You're telling me the Mavs couldn't get more for a guy who is much healthier than Kawhi and who had no signs of not wanting to be there?

I'd give up Embiid or even Maxey for Luka.

I don't see how they don't call up Houston and go after a couple of their pieces and picks. Anthony Davis is legit, but there are other options that improve their defense and keeps their window extended.

This will forever be the question that we'll probably never get the answer to.

It just feels so suspicious all around. Even the fan reaction, normally in a move like this you might have people be like "lol Mavs are stupid", which is how fans react to most one sided trades, but this time fans feel bad for the Mavs fans/players and are wondering what's going on. There has to be something there if that's people's gut feeling.

Seems like Warriors might want to go after KD.

And Butler only wants to go to Phoenix.

IF this happens, I don't even see it being a 4 team deal, I think it could be a 5 team deal for cap dump reasons.
