I don't buy that about the All Star snub, he missed too many games before All Star. I do buy that he would enjoy the nightlife between games and fly ahead of the team and I buy that Doc wasn't cool with that because that's something I heard Sixers beat writers say it multiple times. I can also buy that Embiid invited Harden to the wedding, and that Morey being there was potentially. But going clubbing with Bun B for his Trill Burgers opening is a bad look.

Even I'm done with all this Harden fluff until he is traded. Shelbourne said today that he's good with his teammates and good with Nick Nurse, he's just not good with Morey. Not excusing Morey, but that sounds like the spoiled enabled kid finally being told no. I just want this trade to happen because I don't see Harden buying in to a more off ball role.

Sounds like after the FIBA loss LeBron is trying to put together a new super Olympic team for 2024.

That's likely his last Olympics anyways, so he probably wants to go out with gold.

Kevin Porter JR was arrested on suspected assault on his girlfriend. The details don't sound good and he already doesn't have a spotless history

Saw speculation this was because they gave so many TV games to Spurs. Pop I'm sure would sit Wemby in those on purpose.

I believe this is voted on by the NBA's board of governors and seems likely to pass.

                    Here's the rundown:

                    * Teams must manage their roster to ensure that no more than one star player is unavailable for the same game.

                    * Teams must ensure that star players are available for national television and in-season tournament games.

                    * Teams must maintain a balance between the number of one-game absences for a star player in home games and road games -- with a preference for those absences to happen in home games.

                    * Teams must refrain from any long-term shutdown -- or near shutdown -- when a star player stops participating in games or plays in a materially reduced role in circumstances affecting the integrity of the game.

                    * Teams must ensure that healthy players resting for a game are present and visible to fans.

The NBA, in this instance, is defining a star as anyone who's made an All-Star or All-NBA team within the past three seasons.

                      Heh, good luck enforcing that.

And Porter a *** for that, if it’s true.

                        This is so stupid.

The NBA just needs to be more flexible with what games they air nationally. Obviously, that won't happen so they are going to these ridiculous lengths. SMDH

I imagine it's the league recognizing that there's been an emerging trend for which they broadly find bad for business, extending well beyond nationally televised games.

Personally, healthy scratches have affected my consumer tendencies on numerous occasions, most glaringly when I opted not to seize the opportunity to go to a Warriors-Pistons game in 2022 because I knew there was a good chance Golden State would sit Steph (they did, and Klay & Draymond). Meanwhile, my brother's still pissed about about LeBron's healthy scratch years ago when he finally had a chance to see him in person. I imagine those who bought tickets to that Warriors-Pistons game felt similarly bamboozled.

Maybe enough arenas are still selling enough tickets to counterbalance people like me. But I figure the NBA may have seen the writing on the wall when it comes to offering a sporting product in which people are investing increasingly significant amounts of money with a stronger possibility than ever that the players you're coming to see are often opting to sit out.

Maybe the league knows that if they try nothing, the run the risk of the problem only getting worse from here. So I get it.

Feel like it’s PR more than anything, especially with TV negotiations coming up.

It’s not going away but it’s better to at least give the impression you’re doing SOMETHING than nothing at all.

Every single change the NBA implements is just some random elusion that they are doing “something” for the people who complain without actually putting deeper thought into it.. just like this whole “65 games” rule. I think Bill Walton is the only player in NBA history to win the MVP playing less than 65 games (or the shortened season equivalent). The “rule” has already existed as part of the voting process for like 50 years now lol. But people rejoice now that it’s in writing to appease all these fans who act like playing 64 games is substantially worse than playing 70 games... NBA is the king of implementing changes that don’t change anything, and the fans eat it up because now the “rule changed” lol. I feel like this could be said about 90% of the rule changes over the past 30 years or so.

The article from ESPN said it only applied for all stars/all nba guys from the previous years. So this is only going to apply to a small amount of people even if it can be enforced.
