Secretly, Allen has been playing really well for a while now. Not only in Middleton absenceTrue on that. But they're HUGE now in the front court. It's kind of unfair.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Eastern Conference 2nd Round - Discussion Thread
I don't think a single person played or shot well. I know the Bucks are elite at protecting the rim but you shouldn't shoot that poorly. Tatum was bad but Jaylen sold the whole game. if Jaylen can't find his jumper even with no Middleton Celtics are in big time trouble. I think he will though. That seems like a game you just flush and say the Bucks played really well. no overreaction here.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: Eastern Conference 2nd Round - Discussion Thread
Nice to "steal" the first game in a away setting with a great team like Boston.
I will assume the Celtics will come out and adjust in game 2.
Great D by the Bucks.
Bucks are a better team defensively with Lopez on the floor and Jrue pounding
on both ends.
The ESPN broadcast can kiss my ***.
Boston this and Celtics that blah, blah, blah.
And I'm not the only Bucks fan saying this, friends and family were lighting up
my text. Sorry Doris's team lost.
No disrespect to Celtics fans (BB and anyone else) here and abroad.Last edited by roadman; 05-01-2022, 03:02 PM.Comment

Re: Eastern Conference 2nd Round - Discussion Thread
Like I mentioned in the first round thread, the Bucks are a different challenge for the Celtics. They can't just play physical with Durant and leave the non-Kyrie teammates unguarded this time. Giannis is too strong for that at this point and the role players in Milwaukee should theoretically be much better than what Durant was working with.Giannis provides a whole other challenge then Durant. Giannis has become a play maker and is getting great success from its role players on those penetration kick out threes. Grayson Allen has been lethal.
Giannis has a trip dub. This dude just is always improving something I swear.

I don't really think doubling Giannis is the optimal strategy. I get the idea behind wanting to make others beat you, but Horford is one of the few in the league that can not only absorb Giannis' strength, but give it right back without being called for fouls.
At any rate, I expect Boston to come out a lot more aggressive getting to the rim and to the free throw line in Game 2 and they'll probably pick up a convincing win to send it back to Milwaukee tied up. We'll see though; I'd obviously love to steal both games in Boston.Last edited by Yeah...THAT Guy; 05-01-2022, 03:15 PM.NFL: Bills

Re: Eastern Conference 2nd Round - Discussion Thread
I get that they came into it prepared and wanting to talk about Boston's defense, but it was kinda cracking me up when they'd come back from commercial with Boston down double digits and they'd give you a Boston defense montage talking about how difficult they've made the game for Giannis without a mention that the Bucks were in control.Nice to "steal" the first game in a away setting with a great team like Boston.

Dude, imagine if they make the Finals. ESPN still thinks that Pierce/Garnett team is one of the all time great dynasties lol. Bristol might as well be Boston.Comment

Brook/Giannis is amazing but there is no reason to be that bad. Also i want Scott Foster sent to jail. The Celtics shot 2-for-23 on contested 2-pointers (8.7%). That is the 2nd-worst FG% on contested 2-pointers in a playoff game since ESPN began tracking in 2014.Only team worse? Rockets in Game 6 of the 2017 Conf Semis against the Spurs. They went 1-for-23 (4.3%)

Re: Eastern Conference 2nd Round - Discussion Thread
One of my favorite Twitter follows during the playoffs is @Shot_Quality; an account that basically looks at the quality of the shots, who the shots are coming from, etc. to try to put a number on how much shooting variance there was in a game. One example of this was the DeRozan Game 2 last round where the Bulls won pretty convincingly; they determined that based on the shot quality for both teams, they would have expected the Bucks to win that game like 80% of the time.
Anyways, all that to say I figured their analysis would suggest Boston should have won or at least been much closer than they were, and that's how it turned out. They said that based on the shot quality of the two teams, they would have expected Boston to have scored like 10 more points while the Bucks basically shot like their normal selves overall. Obviously when you get into the playoffs, it's all small sample sizes and things don't always revert to the mean, but long story short, Boston fans probably shouldn't be losing their minds or anything after that game. They just have to make their shots and they'll have a pretty good chance.NFL: Bills

Milwaukee when they watch the film should realize that they have to still make a few adjustments because relying on that type of cold shooting again is not a sound strategy of course. One of my favorite Twitter follows during the playoffs is @Shot_Quality; an account that basically looks at the quality of the shots, who the shots are coming from, etc. to try to put a number on how much shooting variance there was in a game. Re: Eastern Conference 2nd Round - Discussion Thread
I think some of the success can be attributed to Jrue, Wes and even Carter. They were putting a lot of full court pressure on the Celtics.
It won't be like the Nets series with Curry covering Brown.
I feel it can be a combo of Celtics cold shooting and the Bucks D that affected
the outcome of this game.
I am sure the Celtics will come out aggressive on both ends Tuesday evening.Last edited by roadman; 05-02-2022, 07:23 AM.Comment
