Re: February Games Discussion Thread
Its just one game and I'm probably reading too much into it, but I really like this exchange after the Kings game:
"It's my bad," Doncic said. "Should have gave it back to Ky. For me, it's still a learning process. But for sure, I should have gave it back. He was really hot down the stretch, so that was on me for sure."
Irving, however, took no issue with Doncic's shot selection in that instance.
"Either way, it was going to be a great shot, him shooting it or me shooting it," Irving said. "No pressure in terms of 'give me the ball' in that situation if he feels confident enough to take the shot. ... If he would have passed it to me, it may be a different result, maybe not. But the what-ifs don't matter."Comment

Re: February Games Discussion Thread
I read two different reports, one saying all the picks for KD and another saying they still offered the Nets 4 to try and get Bridges too. Which makes me assume they probably did offer Toronto the 3 picks or whatever too.
I think with all their players being so young those picks aren’t giving them the same value as some other teams picks might. Hoping they just try again come off-season time.
The problem is Brooks is expiring. And I don’t see the Grizzlies being a team that goes well over the cap, and that’s also the only reason the Kennard trade makes any sense to me because they basically have similar guys in Konchar, Ziaire, and Aldama on the bench already. Seems like Brooks might be gone after the season, which I’m ok with, but moving him for an upgrade would have been more ideal.
Don’t think it would have hurt them even to move him for another vet or something too. Less picks involved. Like Bojan or something. But they’ll have the Kennard contract, Clarke contract, fillers. They could trade for 30 mil guy this off-season still so I’m hoping they are all in on an upgrade if possible.
I obviously think they need to keep the core of Ja, Bane, JJJ together but there is going to be a certain window where those guys are good enough to win you a ring and Adams isn’t over the hill yet. So timing will sorta be key. They can’t wait so long that Adams is useless with no way of replacing him, but are at the point now where they likely come up a little short regardless of a trade. Next couple years might be the year for a big push.
Might be interesting this season if they get back to that team from the first month or two, but it seems unlikely now. They have been doing a lot of talking as of late and while I’m fine with that because that’s the type of team they are they just don’t feel as focused or cohesive.Comment

Re: February Games Discussion Thread
Adams injury is also a bit concerning for Memphis. I know his value to the team is huge, but if we go back to last years playoffs there were lots of moments/games that he was benched for line-up reasons. If that trend holds true this year it feels like they are substantially worse without him than last years group.
6-8 record with him out. Doesn’t sound bad but they were tied for first in the West, and the wins weren’t really all that high quality either. Detroit no Cade, Atlanta no Trae, Collins, Capela, Murray, or Bogdanovic, Utah, Indiana no Haliburton, Wolves no Towns, Bulls no DeRozan.Comment

Re: February Games Discussion Thread
Need the Nets to continue this run against the lil bros tonight.
Hopefully no more Patty Mills sightings. Give his minutes to Cam or Sumner.#RespectTheCultureComment
