That’s the issue.. dunks aren’t bad but he’s getting them on his way down because his length. Dunks aren’t flush, don’t have that authority. Vince did a similar dunk and punched it through the rim. He just high enough to finish but that’s all.

You got it.

When you've got a seven-foot+ wingspan, you have to accentuate it in the dunk contest, like Larry Nance Sr. and JaVale McGee did. You have to do dunks unique to you alone.

He was out there replicating things shorter guys already completed a long time ago with way more power and elevation. They were nice enough, but lacked that next level.

This all kind of made me bitter again for the league not finding a way to get James White into the contest back in '07 (I think he was ruled ineligible because he was in the G-League and not called up at the time). By the time he finally got there six years later, he'd lost just a touch off his heater.

I'm not putting this all on LeBron's shoulders... but I am saying that it would have been nice to see him participate in at least one dunk contest, both because it'd have been fun to watch and because it would have served as a sort of example for high flying up-and-comers.

Whenever someone that high profile and that talented above the rim skips out, I think it just slowly becomes contagious.

Flight is probably the best dunker the NBA has ever seen, only the NBA never really got to see him

Man, how far has the excitement for this thing dropped off even from like 10 years ago? It's crazy.

Because we've probably seen nearly every dunk imaginable, plus like OJ said with these professional dunkers we can go on youtube to see the stuff we haven't seen before. Feel like to keep interest in it they had to add props but that has made all the dunk contests too gimmicky for my tastes. But I haven't watched it since they had Blake Griffin jumping over KIAs in the dunk contest...brought to you by KIA.

I didn't watch any of it tonight, been rewatching The Wire instead now that I finished my Sopranos rewatch. Will probably only tune in to the 4th quarter of the game itself

Edit: Just saw the highlights/recap and I just wanna say as a goofy looking white dude, I'm thrilled a goofy looking white dude won it. This is for all us guise
