Most of the NBA players that aren't 20 yet and aren't good enough to play sit on the bench...
See: Darko Milicic, Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Andris Biedrins, Robert Swift, Travis Outlaw, Ndubi Ebi, etc.
This rule doesn't make the NBA better. The best players play. If you suck, you ride the pine. It doesn't matter if you're 8 years old, or got a doctorate at Duke while starting 8 years on their basketball team, if you can't play, you sit. And if you can play, you will either get drafted or sign with a team.
This rule doesn't do anything for the league. Maybe for college basketball, but not for the NBA.
Holla
Not K.G., Not Amare(even though he was a couple of months from 20 as it stood anyway)
Definitely not Kobe.
All these cats, take 2-3 years to develop anyway(develop=play on level as high or higher than that the game is currently played at).
Let them do that crapola in college or the CBA or NBDL....but not the NBA...that's why those scubs got waxed in the Olympics....Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

As much as I hate that these kids are forced to wait to make a living for themselves and their families...I agree with this age limit if simply to weed out the guys that all talent and no work ethic.
3 years of college would help NBA GM's separate the guys who really can contribute to the league from guys who can simply jump out of the gym. The NBA should benefit from being able to see all of their future investments (not just HS kids) perform at a competitive level for more than just 1-2 years, BEFORE they throw those millions at them. Is even that going to be enough to repair the NBA's lack of fundamentals? I guess we'll see in a few years, but I'm hopeful.
I would hate to see the next LeBron go down with a knee in college, though.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Originally posted by jmood88But why should the player be penalized when they have no say in whether they are drafted or not? Like I've said time and time again, it's the gms fault for drafting these players. If the league doesn't think that high school players are good for the league then they just need to scout better and not draft the ones who won't contribute rather than making a stupid age restriction.
I agree that its unfair to the young'ns, but the bottom line is:
who do I feel an allegiance to? Joe 20-year-old's friends and family, or the NBA game?
I choose the NBA, sorry Joe...Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment
