I agree that its unfair to the young'ns, but the bottom line is:
who do I feel an allegiance to? Joe 20-year-old's friends and family, or the NBA game?
I choose the NBA, sorry Joe...Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: NBA to have age limit as soon as next year (20 yrs. old)
its the NBA people, not the YMCA, 20 year age limit IMO is a great move. it gives the kids a chance to get an education so that they know how to calculate how many points they make a night, or know how to read the street signs at the airport. if anything its benifitting the youngsters more because it...
1) gives them more time to develope
2) gives them a somewhat education
3) experience the crazy college atmosphere
4) makes it easier to chose whether or not to go to college or nba
5) gives them a chance to play bball with the big boys, before actually playing with the BIG boys
good move, i hope it goes in affect now that way number 1 ranked louis williams will go to Georgia next yearComment

Originally posted by elprez98The problem is these high school kids aren't the best players....they have the most POTENTIAL, and people confuse those two things. Barring Lebron, name somebody else who came into the league FROM HIGH SCHOOL that was the man?
Not K.G., Not Amare(even though he was a couple of months from 20 as it stood anyway)
Definitely not Kobe.
All these cats, take 2-3 years to develop anyway(develop=play on level as high or higher than that the game is currently played at).
Let them do that crapola in college or the CBA or NBDL....but not the NBA...that's why those scubs got waxed in the Olympics....
Let's just take a look at the last 5 drafts, and look at "THE MAN" material players (in their first year):
This year (2004 Draft):
You can argue Dwight and Okafor are putting up "THE MAN" type of numbers. I dunno what it means to put up "THE MAN" type numbers, but I'm guessing you want it to be close to Lebrons 20, 5, and 6. They're not close to that, but they're averaging double-doubles.
(2003 Draft):
Carmelo (Under 20) was the man.
Dwyane Wade was the man.
Chris Bosh (under 20) was man material.
Lebron, but I won't even count him.
(2002 Draft):
Yao Ming
Amare Stoudemire
Caron Butler (on the bubble, but had a good rookie season)
(2001 Draft):
One of the worst drafts in NBA history. I don't think anybody was MAN worthy.
(2000 Draft):
Also one of the worst drafts in NBA History. Mike Miller won ROY that year. Kenyon Martin was injured for the majority of it.
So in the past 5 years, I've seen a total of 7 rookies made major impact of their teams in their rookie season. 4 of them were high schoolers or under the age of 20.
Again, the argument that more experienced rookies produce more than younger rookies contains some pretty large holes in it.

I know you know a lot about the game(<--not sarcasm, I know ya off the ESPN boards man), so lets start from where all this mess started and I won't include draft picks lower than 1st rd #10:
(by the way, I said high school picks because this is what the age restriction is trying to prohibit anyway):
1995:KG-2-1/2 development time....would've been about 20 anyway at realized potential
1996: Neither top 10 picks but.....Kobe/Jermaine: give kobe about 2yrs/ Jermaine damn near six yrs
1997:TMac-3 yrs
1998:Al Harrington?? but like i said i shouldn't even be adding below top 10's
1999: Jonathan Bender....another "great" Indiana pick, and people talk about the Clippers...????
2000: Darius Miles....I could've sworn i seen his name right next to ovverhyped in the dictionary?
2001: Nobody will forget Kwame....and my boys Tyson and Eddie are on the 2-3 year development list as well
2002-Amare...2yrs
2003-bron bron and melo....ok I'll give ya them...but really on lebron..lol
Answer this: Why the heck should fans pay PRO money to watch AMATUERS play?
My thought process is this, since they need at least two years on average to develop(what they would get if they went to college(even Juco), to stop making AMATEUR mistakes, the same mistakes I saw cats I used to play with when I was younger make. They should NOT be in the league yet. I don't go to or watch a PRO game to watch a bunch of unseasoned, unproven high school all-stars......
They are looking out for their own interests, hell I'm looking out for mine...as a fan of the game.
Honestly brankles, as far as I'm concerned the only people that can really call themselves..."the man" (i guess it should be "the men") are:
Shaq, TD, JKidd, AI(sorry KG...took ya too long..lol)....only players to carry the ENTIRE team on their backs and WIN.....coincidently...all college stars.
Please don't bring Kobe into this, because you know its bad when the Lakers are happy about a 2 game win streak....Last edited by elprez98; 03-09-2005, 01:21 AM.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

One of the three is NOT going to cut it. And that's why the game is getting boring....I get tired of everybody trying to dunk on somebody else and get a pic of their nuts in someone's face on Sportscenter.........Getting people over 20 is just trying to bring some of the purity back....ya'll gotta see that's its not there....Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

lol. the only proven high school athlete i've seen who gets it done, gets on tv highlights during his high school tenure& wins his teams championships is lebron james. & really i believe lebrons the only nba player out of high school who've really proven himself worthy & develops quickly enough to even play in the nbaComment

Timmy, Stack, Sheed, AI, Ray-Ray, Irk(no D), Pierce, Nash, Matrix, Franchise, Baron....shall i go on?
Now I don't disagree with you completely. I don't think that its all on the kids...part of it is/was expansion with Minn/Orlando/Bobcats...too many scrubs have to be on the roster so they fill it with the overrated Derrick Fishers of the world.
I know this is off topic but is Laron Profit still playing in the league?.....hmmmm,so you might be right a lil' bit Brankles...
