Re: October 2024 Regular thread
This is definitely the biggest celebration in this arena outside of the championship banner night.
Masai speech sounds like he's about to run for office or something, that's passion.
Vince was real emotional the entire time.
Mini shot at GS for drafting/trading him. Crazy looking back and remembering how many ties the Raptors have with GS. The Vince draft day trade, the dunk contest at their arena, and of course game 6 of the finals winning the title there too.
Seeing Mo Pete, Alvin, Oakley, TMac, Muggsy and others there was cool.
Fans biting their tongue when Vince thanked his trainer...
They should've done this pregame. I hate timed ceremonies when the guy deserves his time.
Some people hated the fact he still never apologized/even acknowledged the trade, but don't think those fans will ever forgive him anyways.Comment

Re: October 2024 Regular thread
Looks like Paul George might make his Sixers debut tomorrow versus the Suns. I figured he might play Monday since he said Cardio was the only thing holding him back. I even saw a report that there's a chance that Embiid might return on this west coast trip, pending the shove investigation. I'm not watching any of the West coast trips games since I work the next days.Comment

Knowing DeMar could/would knock his *** out in a real fight. Drake makes himself look like a clown more and more......SMDH
It's really not that serious and if the Raptors want to eventually retire DeMar's number (they should) that isn't his concern. He's nothing more than a famous fan and sure as **** should have no say in such matters.

Re: October 2024 Regular thread
DeMar is a bucket, but he won't be fully appreciated until he's retired, IMO.

Re: October 2024 Regular thread
Did you guys hear the entire interview with Drake? He's literally killing his own career. Why is he talking about Jessie Reyes? It's just stupid at this point.

Warriors looking nice so far this year...they seem deeper and Buddy Hield has been incredible."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Despite that, he obviously is in the wrong here. DeRozan for sure will have his number retired, Lowry will have his number retired AND have the first statue.
Raptors organization is in an interesting spot right now. Team wise they're rebuilding, but what they do off the court too can set up this next era/generation of Raptors basketball so much.
Vince has been brought on to their broadcast team for select games, I definitely could see a guy like Lowry wanting to coach in the league one day and it would be cool seeing them give him a shot when he retires.Comment

Re: October 2024 Regular thread
It could even just be the agent too.
Same thing happened to the Jays with Edwin Encarnacion.
Jays offered him a 4 year 80m deal with option for 5th year at 20m which would've taken him guaranteed through age 37, maybe even 38.
He declined, waited, then took the Cleveland offer of 3 years 60m, which takes him through age 36. By time he was 37 he just got a 1 year 12m deal and that was it for his career (so 72m for 4 years is what he wound up with vs 80m for 4 years with a shot at a final year at 20m that he rejected).
IIRC, he changed agents either during this or after the negotiations.Last edited by Majingir; 11-05-2024, 03:35 PM.Comment

Re: October 2024 Regular thread
I think Trent Jr. is just in an early season slump and miscast as a 'stopper.'
They need Middleton to comeback and be 80% of his former self, while Pat needs to (apparently) stop sucking and Doc needs to use the young guys more (most unlikely thing to happen, TBH).
