I don't know who houston is going to put on Amare becuase he will be too fast or too strong for most players.
They did decent on him last game. Yao killed him in the halfcourt offense, Amare couldn't do anything in the low post game.

He did beat Yao up the court a few times, but he does that to most other centers in the league.

As far as TMac... no one in the West can really guard him. Bowen may be able to slow him down, but no one is shutting him down. Only TMac can shut TMac down. Marion is a good, athletic defender, but they'll probably have to put him on a bigger player.

McGrady seems to be intend on not letting himself or anyone stop him this postseason.

Which game? I assume you are talking about the game in which he scored only 9 points because he went off for 30+ points games in 2 other games. I think Amare will be quick enough to beat Yao though his height does present some problems.

Nobody said anyone can shut down T-Mac, there are a few players which are pretty much impossible to shut down (kobe, lbj, wade, shaq, duncan, kg, etc.) However, I feel like Marion can give T-Mac fits at certain times and make it difficult for T-Mac. Also who else do you want Marion to guard on the Rockets?
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Both games when Amare had over 30 points, the Suns lost. In one of those games (when Hunter missed the GW tip, the play after Bob Sura missed two free throws) Yao only played 25 minutes. The other game, the Rockets won by 20.

The game Amare had 9, the Suns won handily.

Whatever that proves, I don't know. Just throwing stats out there.

The game I saw, Amare had a horrible time with Yao in the halfcourt game. He did get one or two nice dunks on him, but most of his points seemed to come off of fastbreaks and jumpers, when Yao was guarding someone else.

I was just saying that Marion/Joe Johnson/Quentin Richardson on TMac won't really matter. He's still gonna get his. I think Yao on Stoudemire is much better than Marion on TMac, but we'll see.

Hopefully this matchup happens. Gotta get past Dallas first. A Suns/Rockets series would be very exciting.

Well Amare showed tonight that it is hard to stop him for long, when he gets angry he plays even better imho.

I agree no one can stop T-Mac, but they can make it difficult, and I think Marion will be a tougher defender than anyone the Mavericks have put on him.

Re: If McGrady and Yao continue to play like this..

You can bet that Joe Johnson would be guarding TMac. As shown tonight (guarding Pao when Amare' was struggling with him)...Marion will be guarding Yao a little bit too...as well as whoever they throw in at PF. They can't have Shawn running all over the court trying to guard TMac. JJ does a pretty good job on the ball dominant players from the other team (mike miller, cough, 3 points tonight). Shawn needs to be crashing the boards, not running around on the perimeter guarding shooting guards.

We definitely shouldn't be talking about a possible round two matchup yet, guys -- the first round is far from over.

                  hehe

I know, just by talking about Houston going to the next round, that the Rockets are going to lose tonight.

Strictly Mavs/Rox talk from now on.

The Mavz don`t play defense.... they score a lot of points but they also give up a lot of points. They played the best they can play as a team.... But do you honestly think they`re "supposed" to score more than 111 points? It doesn`t matter whether or not Dirk and Fin had there best games... they scored 111 points and "LOST" the game. Is it "supposed" to matter who scored those 111 points?

and if you look at there team average... they give up more points per game than what they score per game. The Mavz average 98 PPG but there opponents average 105 PPG. There opponents also average a higher FG% by almost 10 percentage points higher.

You have no clue what you are talking about. You are posting playoff numbers for this year, which is all of 2 games. Like I said before, I have actually watched the Mavs a lot this year (and in the playoffs that last several years), and Game 2 is not anywhere near their "best" game.
