    Re: Is NBA2K3 this easy!?!?

madskillz, the game is very realistic but it's still a game. If you take possibly the highest rated player on the game and jab step and/or crossover all game (had to to shoot 35 shots with him in a total of 20 minutes, and that's if you didn't sub him out) he's going to be more successful than anyone else. Just like if you call picks all game and just try to brush your man off of him you'll eventually get a drive.

If you want to play that style then you really need to screw with sliders. Turne ball handling down, defensive stopping power way up, shot percentages down, etc. But it makes more sense to just play it like it's a real game. Altering the CPU's preferences helps too. If you were playing a real person there's no way they would have the settings on auto double team with regular coverage against Kobe and while he's scoring 55 points on them.

      Re: Is NBA2K3 this easy!?!?

Dude, if you bothered to look at some of the other posts, you would have seen mine. Try these settings. I am good at the game too and I went undefeated in the 2 previous installments of the 2K series. But right now with the Wizards, I am 11-3 on all-star, 10 minute quarters using this slider format. Try it!

Ok, I am at work and cannot remember all of the exact slider settings but here is a brief breakdown of how they basically are in my game. And once again, yes, I am getting realistic results on all-star with 10 minute quarters using the Wizards. And when I say notches left or right, I mean from default, except for AI shot tendencies:

close shot percentage (away/home): about 5 notches right
medium shot % (away/home): about 3 notches right
      3-pt shot % (away/home): about 3 notches right
      dunk % (away/home): about 8 notches right
      layup % (away/home): about 8 notches right
dunk/layup vs. shot (away/home): about 8-10 notches right
      all fouls: default
      steals: 3 notches left
      ballhandling: 1 notch right
AI close shot tendency: about 5 notches to the left of max
AI medium shot tendency: about 7 notches to the left of max
AI 3-pt shot tendency: about 7 notches left of max
AI dunk/ layup vs. shot: about 5 notches left of max
      offensive awareness: maxed
      defensive awareness: maxed
      injuries: default
defensive stopping power: 1 notch left of max

Those are all of the ones I can think of. Again, I am getting very realistic results. I am 9-2 with the Wizards but all games are close and I started with these settings about 5 games in to the season. The only thing I may have to work on is shot discrepancies, as the computer has been taking about 15 shots less than me per game. But it has been getting better, as last game they took 9 more shots. Also, my free throw attempts per game have been realistic. Any questions, just ask. I will be back on at about 6 PM New York time.

        Re: Is NBA2K3 this easy!?!?

I am having the same problem with it being too easy, I have owned every version of this series so maybe it's that I'm used to the way the game plays but in my first game on All-Star 9 minute quarters I beat the CPU by 41 points. Some people say that you should pass the ball around and
distribute which I did in the games I played but still ended up winning by 40+ points. You shouldn't have to purposely handicap yourself in a game to make it more challenging this is supposed to be the game programmers job, not my job not to use a play just because it's too easy to score on.

padgoi, I will try your sliders and see if they help out this problem. I will get back with my results tonight since I'm using my job's resources and posting with their computer.

Acually he's right, U dont see guys dunkin all the time.
Plus every body in the NBA cant dunk, some cant even penetrate to the hole.
You made a good point by saying they would get it blocked, chaarges and steals but thats the exact reason there is'nt alot of dunks in a game so its not a moronic statement.
Do you think Reggie Miller would prefer dunkin over shooting J's, I think not.
I went to a Bulls scrimmage game a couple of weeks ago and Jay Williams tried to Dunk 4 times, and missed them all. So his J would work more than going to the hole.
What do you play, street ball.

            Re: Is NBA2K3 this easy!?!?

Inside Drive 2002 made this a lot harder to do. If the player was always getting the ball and torching the AI, the AI will ALWAYS double the guy to force turnovers and stuff. Why can't NBA 2k3 do this? This IS fundamental defensive logic. Yet I haven't seen the AI always double team a player so that they freeze the player out of the game for a while. This is really part of the problem I've been having with this game. Sure, I can play patient offense and give up opportunities to score, but at what cost? eventually, I'm going to want to win the game, and I can do that with ease in the fourth quarter since the AI is absolutely clueless on defense. Getting to the paint has always been too easy with the 2k series. I was hoping they'd have fixed this by now, but they haven't.

on that note, I HAVE seen Live 2003 double the superstar when he starts torching them.

Well 2k3 has these things called pressure and double team. The defaults are regular and auto. I guess it would be nice if the CPU changed these automatically but that's the reason it's not quickly doubling the guy.

First, unless u increased or maxed out the sliders for the cpu u shouldnt be complaining about how easy the game is.

Second, How can u expect programmers to design a game that makes it challenging for every person? Default allstar is challenging for me but as I get better I will be forced to adjust the sliders to keep the game challenging. I'm sure u are a better player then me so default allstar may be easy for u but how can the programers design a game that makes default allstar a challenge for people w/ different skill levels?

Not too easy for me, I would love to see some of you guys play and see what you are doing to dominate like that.

What camera angle do you use, shouldn't matter but it seemed like the Live like camera angle makes it easier.

I am playing it on the default camera angle, as I have since the NBA2k series started. Another strange thing that I experienced is I had the Xbox and PS2 version of the game and for some strange reason the Xbox version seemed tougher to beat the cpu, I kept the ps2 version because that's the only one I can play online cause I don't have broadband, well I do have broadband but only one way cable modem, damn cable company.

Also as I stated before I will try the sliders that someone else on here recommended but I haven't gotten home from work to try them yet.
