Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
I think this latest (tough) losing streak probably sealed our fate...maybe for the best, long-term. Get that draft pick and bring it tough next year with a (fingers-crossed) healthy Jennings and improved Drummond and Monroe. Not much else we can do at this point.Comment

Well, it's that time of year, Pistons faithful....Embrace the suck and trust in Stan in the draft. See you all after the Auburn Hills tank-fest and let's get pumped for draft day!Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
So, once again we get the lowest possible pick we could have gotten. Lucky us.
Who do you guys want to see us take with the #8 pick?Comment

I like Turner from Texas but I haven't really done much research lol, just that he seems to be a big stretch guy that could fit well offensivelyWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

I'm curious about this Mario Hezonja guy...I know nothing about him, other than he's a 6'8" Croatian who can shoot. If he's like Peja or Turkoglu, he'd fit great in SVG's run-n-gun system. I know we haven't had the best luck drafting Euros in the lottery spots, but...count me intrigued.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
Yeah I'd be pretty happy with either of the euro guys or Turner, fortunately we're in a spot where it's pretty much a lock at least 1 of them will be availableWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
The weird thing about this draft for the Pistons is, I'm not even really sure what their biggest "need" area is...point guard? Guess that depends on whether you think Jennings is going to come back full-strength or not. Shooting guard? Small forward?
I mean, of course the real answer is "everywhere", but assuming our front-court is more or less set, it seems the guard positions would be the most logical choice.
Will be interested to see what, if any, impact the Ilyasova signing has on what we do with Monroe.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
I would guess SF would be the position of need, and there's so many:
Johnson
Winslow
Hezonja (tall SG)
Booker (tall SG)
Oubre (no thanks)
Dekker
Hopefully one of the first three will still be there for us at 8, but if not that means someone mysteriously slipped and maybe we'll nab that guy instead or trade outWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
Just to recap:
Stanley Johnson (8) - SF / Arizona
Darrun Hilliard (38) - SG / Villanova
Hmmm....lots of people think we made a mistake not taking Justice Winslow. I'm a little wary of super-athletic phenoms that just out-jump people in high school and only 1 year of college to go on. I dunno...I hope Stan Van knows what he's doing. But Winslow seemed like more of a 'sure-thing', insomuch as there are any in the draft.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
IMO I believe Stanley Johnson was a great pick. If Winslow was really that great, why would Charlotte pass on him and take Kaminsky?

I don't know anything about the guy from round 2 other than supposedly all he can do is shoot. Had my fingers crossed for Dakari Johnson or Pat Connaughton but I trust SVG knows what he's doing
Charlotte was really strange, apparently the Celtics tried to give them FOUR future 1sts to move up and get Winslow, but Jordan turned them down and drafted Kaminsky lolWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
I pretty much have no strong opinions on our draft. I think I'm willing to give SVG the benefit of the doubt, because he's been a winner everywhere he's gone. I think the person I'm most excited about acquiring is Ilyasova. If there's one thing SVG knows how to do, it's maximize the benefit of a long outside shooter.
I'm excited to see the team next year. I really think we were on to something until that devastating Jennings injury totally de-railed us.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons Thread***
Looks like Moose is headed to the Bucks. Great players, always liked him, but I guess he didn't fit in with the new regime's system.
So we essentially traded PF's with the Bucks. Hope it's a better fit for both.Comment
