I think there was less incentive to play him when the team was playing well. D'Antoni wasn't going to mess with a good thing.

But now fans expect this team to best the lower teams. I think even casual fans know the reality of it all. The Knicks shouldn't be beating teams with multiple all-stars. But they better beat the evenly matched or lesser teams.

Anyway, now that losses will start piling up again because of this tough stretch and the bench is playing poorly, I wouldn't be surprised if D'Antoni starts looking deeper into his bench.

I really think Chandler should return to the sixth man role and Randolph should help STAT slide to the four.

Turiaf gave us a nice spark the first month or so even if he wasn't scoring but now he's useless and even more of the already absurd load is on Amare's shoulders because of it. AR has got to play even if he's going to be a mess on the offensive end of the floor. He can still hustle and do some dirty work to at least give Amare a break here and there.

Okay..back to my argument..what does a "scoring big man" do for the Knicks?

Nothing.

The Knicks need perimeter defenders and a big who can consistently do the things Amare can't (mask Amare's deficiencies).

Knicks don't need more scoring.

Gallo has to be that scorer.

Who's the Knicks best on ball defender??

It's Toney Douglas.

He's not gonna get more minutes because Felton is playing out of his mind at PG.

AR needs to be that player.

A scoring big man does nothing for this Knicks team. Scoring is not the problem. Defense is.

And once again not having a big-man who plays some D & rebounds kills us. On a back2back what does Pringles do he just plays STAT, GALLO & CHANDLER another 40 minutes. No sign of AR, no sign of Mosgov, while Varejo goes off for 18 rebounds & kills us with the PnR.

Not to mention no one could make a shot when we needed it. And Toney Douglas is just killing us right now

Thoughts on the recent trade rumors?

Turiaf for Duhon? Meh, and only if we have another big coming in elsewhere. Right now we look like Villanova with Amare and a bunch of guards. I know Turiaf is never healthy but we can't get rid of him even if he's playing on one leg. Not sure what we do with Toney Douglas either if we bring in another PG, does he solely give us time at the 2 off the bench or is he going to join AR in the D'Antoni Doghouse?


Anyway, back on the court tonight - hopefully the three days off helped the starters immensely. It'll be interesting to see if D'Antoni expands his rotation has he's hinted at. I'm guessing it doesn't mean AR gets any burn though.

Yes.

We'll never know how good AR can be if he never gets in a game.
It's all mental for him right now and that does not mix with D'Amnphony because as soon as you're in his doghouse...it's over for you.

Great W today over OKC though. We probably really needed the rest after that heartbreaker against Boston, raping by Miami, and embarrassment in Cleveland.
