Re: MJ's New Team- Official Charlotte Bobcats Thread

I am perfectly okay with losing this season if it gives us either Drummond or Anthony Davis. I would rather suck now and get a great pick, then keep battling to be an 8th seed. Charlotte fans are pathetic, we will come back if the Bobcats start winning.

What I don't get, and mind you I don't live in Charlotte, is why the city hasn't come out for the Bobcats the way they did for the Hornets. The Hornets were awful in the early years and still sold out every year. I know losing the Hornets and the tradition we had built hurt and I'm at the front of that pissed off line, but especially with MJ owning the team, I figured the fans would start to come back.

Remember, Najara and Williams will be out a few weeks with leg injuries, and Gana will be limited for being a fatass.

A sour taste in the mouth by most fans against the NBA.

A lot of people boycott the new arena because the Coliseum was still basically new.

Charlotte is a bandwagon city and won't show up unless the team is winning, same for the Panthers.

I might come anyway, those 5 dollar upper level seats for the first 3 home games of 2012 are tempting.

Don't really get the Williams signing when we knew he probably wouldn't see game action until after the All Star break.

Biyombo got his buyout today, so he'll soon be a Charlotte Bobcat! Makes the front court depth better, and makes the team a lot more exciting.

Soooo guys... who we taking #2?

My favorite choices right now are Thomas Robinson, Bradley Beal, or try to trade down with a team like Portland if they're in love with somebody at #2 overall.

Who knows, id rather have Beal or TRob. I think we will be in the same position next year.

My own "best possible senario is that Portland falls in love with Andre Drummond and trades their 6 and 11 for #2.

                        3-5 go MKG/Barnes/Robinson

leaving the Bobcats able to select Brad Beal with # 6. and Moe Harkless at 11.

I know most mock drafts have compared Harkless to James Posey, but I see more of a Rudy Gay/Paul George comparison.

Draymond Green would be a godsend to this team. His leadership and Kemba's would be great.

If we trade our 2nd overall, I'd hope that it would be for the Cav's 4th overall and 24th overall.

Then I hope it shakes down like this.

                          1st (Hornets): Anthony Davis
                          2nd (Cavaliers): Bradley Beal
                          3rd (Wizards): MKG
                          4th (Bobcats): I'd prefer Drummond.

Then with the 24th pick, we could go for Draymond Green. But the problem is that everyone from the 17th pick to the 60th pick will want him I'd say.

I am ok with the drafting of MKG, but I dont like the 2nd round pick. We should have gotten a big or traded down with Cleveland and we would have still gotten MKG and a decent big in Perry Jones or Festus Ezieli. Going 2 deep in SF and offering Derrick Brown and extension make no sense to me.

With that being said, I am hopefull that we pick up Jamison and JJ Hickson. That will sure up our PF position and lets see what Bismack can really do at Center.

                            Predicted Lineup for 2013...
PG Kemba Walker, Ben Gordon, ? - Hoping they sign and trade DJ Augustine
SG Gerald Henderson, Ben Gordon, Reggie Williams, Matt Carroll
                            SF MKG, Jeff Taylor
PF A. Jamison, JJ Hickson - Amnesty T. Thomas please....
C Bismack Biyombo, Byron Mullens, DeSegana Diop -he is a FA but has a player option and will likely make us pay him to sit on the bench

Possible Free Agent Additions, knowing that Charlotte will not go after any of these and will mail it in for hopes of the #1 pick again
PG Jarryd Bayless- why not? He can score off the bench
PG Derek Fisher, he can back up Kimba and I doubt any other team really wants him
Center AAron Grey, another big that can play solid minutes
Center Chris Kaman, why not make a run for him? I know its a real long shot and he will go to Indy but give it a go, whats the worse that could happen?
Center Greg Stiemsma, another young big, we need some size

Bottom Line is we need everything to have a team that will compete and not suck monkey balls... I am hoping that we amnesty Tyrus Thomas and in some way get rid of Diop and Augustine. Lets start fresh and try to get better, if we do that other future free agents will want to play for us... If not look for a future as the laughing stock of basketball for a long, long time.

Don’t make fun of me because I am a Bobcats fan…

Now that time has passed I can see that the Bobcats are shaping up to be a better team. Okay, still not a good team, but a much better team. I have the Summer League subscription and have watched all teams’ games and evaluated many players so far. I can safely say that our picks at 2 and 31 were excellent. MKG is just what we needed; he has an under-valued offensive game and an excellent defensive game. Rick Fox even says that he thinks MKG will lead the league in steals his rookie year. Jeff Taylor was a steal and will help us for years on the wing with his good shooting touch and defensive skill set.

We have made some major additions and gotten rid of some bad seeds thus far. I like the addition of Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon; they will be solid backups or good spot starters dependent on our youth’s development. Brandon Haywood was a good addition at the 5 with good length and defensive leadership. I just hope that the vets will buy into our new coach’s mentality. From what I have seen so far, we are running full up tempo motion offense and a full and sometimes ¾ court press. We then convert to a 3 -2 defense on our half court sets. The pressure is very tight and I really hope that our new players take it seriously and show up to camp in shape and ready to run. Offensively we are not over dribbling the ball and it is looking very crisp with a lot of high screens and open jumpers.

                              Tentative Roster since Summer League:

                              PG Walker, Sessions
G Henderson, Gordon, Carroll, R. Williams
F MKG (Thank you Cho), Taylor, D. Brown ?
PF Mullens (Boy can shoot), Thomas-(Please Amnesty, again please)
C Haywood, Biyombo (Boy can block)
We could still add a few pieces but, time is running thin.

I agree on the tempo/defense. It seems more like a college style than a traditional pro style and I like it a lot. I've also seen each Bobcats summer league game, and I'm excited about the young guys we have. Kemba looks more sure of himself and assertive. Bismack is showing slow but steady improvement, Mully is shooting a LOT of 3s (lol), and MKG and Taylor look good.

Tyrus can't be amnestied, today was the last day to amnesty. Hopefully his length can help in the traps and zones. As of right now, Diop will take up a big *** spot on the bench too. I say we have 12 spots filled, and another 3 openings. I think we'll pick up some more energy guys, maybe even from the summer league.

I really like that the new coach is trying something new.
