Sounds like Jabari Bird flushed all that hard work down the toilet. Arrested in alleged assault, strangling, kidnapping.

For his sake I hope the chargers are proven false. Would be a shame to throw it all away in one night.

Really hope this is some sort of mixup or that it's actually false. Bird was just added to the active roster over the summer after having a two-way contract last season. This could end up throwing away the rest of his entire basketball career & send him to jail also.

Update:

Per the Suffolk County DA’s office, Jabari Bird remains hospitalized and will not be arraigned until he is discharged, booked and processed. That isn’t expected to happen today.

Was Bird injured this bad in what was supposed to have happened because he's been in the hospital for days now? You'd think he was the one that was attacked/assaulted/kidnapped.

Could be Bird remains hospitalized for psychological purposes. Of course that is nothing more than me recklessly speculating. Either way the situation becomes odder with each passing day.

Seems to me like I read an article from Bleacher Report that they was keeping him in the hospital for a mental/psychological evaluation. I'll have to go back a few days on Bleacher Report to see if I can find that article. Thanks.

Like you I hate to speculate but there's not too many reasons to hold someone for that long. My initial thought is that you have a young man who realizes that he very likely just screwed up his life and the realization of that is too much for him to handle.

Either way it's a sad situation and if everything is true, then there's no way he comes out the other end of this in Celtic green... but basketball aside, I really hope that his girlfriend his okay and that he gets the help that he needs.

The girlfriend of Boston Celtics guard Jabari Bird told Boston police he choked her roughly a dozen times during an argument last Friday and also kicked her and held her against her will before he began to suffer mental distress, prosecutors said Thursday.

The allegations were disclosed as Bird, 24, was arraigned in Brighton Municipal Court on charges of assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend, who prosecutors said attends a local college

A not-guilty plea was entered on Bird’s behalf, and he was held on $50,000 cash bail.

Most definitely! Basketball is the least of his problems. This guy appears to need some serious mental help. Let's hope that he can get it too. No doubt to me his playing days with the Celtics or any other team in the NBA are more than likely over.

I just hope & pray that he can get his life going in the right direction but unless he's found mentally insane or incompetent to stand trial he's going to spend some time in jail too.

You're right. Strangulation is a very serious crime.

Maybe he'll be able to buy is way out of this like other athletes and celebrities have in the past but if a normal person did what he (allegedly) did, then they would likely be looking at serious time in prison.

Obviously, these are still just allegations and you just never know what really happened. With that said, if there is any inkling to some of that tweet being true then I don't see how he's not cut already. Talk about a PR nightmare if they try to stick this out with him.... Anyway, I hate to keep speculating until we get more facts but this is just a sad situation all the way around.

What I find interesting is that Bird supposedly suffered a seizure during the alleged event. Wonder if he had any previous issues with seizures? He could very well have something physical wrong with him causing the seizure(s) & leading to his very strange mental behavior.

Just speculating of course but that caught my eye in the link from the above article. I'm sure they have already done an MRI and/or CT Scan while in the hospital on his brain since he was supposedly suffering from a seizure. This is some crazy stuff for sure.
