He never posts up in the low post tho, he usually catches it too far away for my liking, usually around the 3pt line and then settles for a jump shot.

Well, Melo did try to post up under the basket. Like under the basket. But he wasn't getting the ball in that position. And I think he should've because all that's coming from that is a foul and free throws.

No excuse for Melo to only take 4 free throws in the game. That means Lin needs to look for him near the basket.

I think Melo can coexist, but because Lin is a driving point guard and there's already Stoudemire and Chandler trying to get the feed underneath, Melo is trying to find a spot that works and he hasn't found it.

When Lin does not run the offense...they turn into IsoBall.

Knicks have been getting by on talent and good shooting. They don't really run an offense. Without Chandler out there, they run crappy pick and rolls and if that doesn't work, its back to Iso ball.
Why no post up?
Why no set screens for shooters?
Why no have good coach?

But whats been killing us is defense not offense. Teams have been doing exactly what they want against us. Sad.

Melo is just a disaster on offense? Is he supposedly still not healthy or he just can't fit in?

Lin has fallen off a cliff with his FG% lately.

I don't agree that the Knicks don't have an offense. You see it with the second squad. There's actually one play they run VERY often, it's a double high screen with Stat and Chandler. Both bigs at the elbows, one sets a pick on either the ball handler or the strong side corner man. This is the set that usually gets Anthony the ball alone on the FTLE where he goes into iso-mode and everyone clears out and stands around. It's also how Lin gets open - the weak side man (usually Fields or Navok) hits the FTLE near the 3PT line or in the corner for a shot.

There's a few things that bother me:

-Stat doesn't know how to set a pick. Every. single. time. I see it, it pisses me off. He doesn't know how to seal off and this leads to the easy traps the other teams get.

-There doesn't seem to be any plans for the offense once Melo gets the ball. They don't set screens for him. They don't move off-ball. They just look lost. All the time. Not even a backdoor cut. Frustrating watching everyone stand around.

-We don't have plays to get Carmelo open close to the basket. At least, if do, we don't run them. Where is the down screen or weakside screen where he has a second to get open? Easy points.

We have an offense, but these guys don't run it. When Lin came in, Chandler was setting hard picks and they were able to get the advantage. Now that Stat is setting picks again, we don't even have that.

As others have said, their lack of emphasis to fight over a pick is concerning as well.

Stoudemire's idea of setting a pick is picking flowers off a defender's back.

It's the softest, laziest attempt on the entire roster. I've seen parents play fight with newborns much rougher than that.

How a Knicks coach can be on the sidelines and not get in Stats face about this is beyond me.
Combine this with his abysmal defense and he needs to score 40 a night to become useful.

This coach clearly doesn't hold players accountable for their actions unless your name is Toney Douglas or Bill Walker.

I couldn't be an NBA coach because I'd be Paul Westphal getting fired for sitting and fining guys.

I would have been benched Stoudemire and Anthony as a warning for being lazy on both ends of the court. Coaches sit players for a reason: a breather. So while you're out there try your hardest.

Being lazy on D says to me you don't trust your teammates to pick up the slack when you're taking a quick breather.

There's a problem there.

Thats what the Coach should be doing to these guys. He should light a fire under them.
Anthony and Stat are NOT untouchable. In fact these guys should be playing their asses off, if they want to stay here in NY.

We can win Basketball games without them, Lin has proved it. In fact we might be a better team without them on the court.

Honest question, is Amare not knowing how to set a pick a new development? I don't remember this in the past, and he was always deadly on the pick and roll, but how could someone just forget how to set a pick? And it's constant with him. Maybe he's lost a step and is trying to make a quicker move to compensate?

The constant switching is ridiculous. The defense has gotten better this year but it's not where it needs to be.
