1- Pick-up Rondo full court, instead of letting the ball role all the way to 1/2 court.
2- Fight thru the picks Garnett set, 1 which should have been called either a foul on Shump or an Offensive on Garnett.
3- Foul Pierce like most people want.

Again for me I can life with the shot, what frustrates me is not doing 1 or 2 in my post
I'm sorry...but everytime the Knicks play the Celtics...it seems like Ray Allen, Paul Pierce or KG is hitting a last second shot to beat us. Paul Pierce always takes some crazy shot against us and hits it.

We've seen this time and time again.

D'Antoni knows this better than anyone.

Put someone on the FT line. And the fact that he called a timeout with 20 seconds left and AHEAD!

I guess we'll differ on how we should have played-out the last 18 secs of the game.

As for the TO, I was also bewildered @ why he would call a TO there. Good thing it didn't back-fire as Novak made both FT's.

While I'm a proponent of foul and keep the game in our hands, had Boston made a desperation 3 after two fouls or we turn the ball over and they win on a 2, you KNOW everyone would be getting on D'Antoni for telling his team to foul.

This is less on the coach and more on the C's. Pierce made a tough shot, we couldn't put it away in OT. Good game either way.

I agree. It ticked me off they didn't pick up Rondo full court.

Crushing loss yesterday. I knew they were dead when Pierce hit that ridiculous shot to force OT. Too many turnovers and too much friggin' switching on defense. I was hoping for a 2-2 road trip, now it looks like 1-3. For all the hoopla about the Knicks, they can't even stay above .500. They're getting swept again if they can't finish 6th or better.

No talk about Lin folding under pressure?

How he's look so scared in big games?

Dude has to get it together for this team to do anything. You can't be flying around the court being all world when you're at MSG but shrivel up when you're on the road and the crowd is getting on you.

Rondo wasn't even D'ing him up tight.

            No excuses.

He was bad but he was great against the lakers and mavs and they were definitely big games. Now he hasn't played well in big games on the road so far but it's a small sample I'm not worried yet.

I only watched the OT so can't comment on Lin's game but from what I hear he stepped up big in crunch time.

He was part of the reason they fell behind but also part of the reason w are even discussing Pierce's final shot in regulation.

                  No excuses.
I'm not putting too much stock into it because he's practically a rookie and only had meaningful minutes in like 15 games. Our expectations have been set unreasonably high because of his short term success thus far. That's the first time he's played Boston minus the few minutes he played a month ago. He didn't start the game off too hot (foul trouble, a couple shots blocked) and he probably just didn't find a rhythm after that. He did have 6 pts (2/2 fg 1/2 ft) 1 ast in the 7 minutes he played in the 4th. He had 6 turnovers but what, 3 passes that were barely missed and one Tyson Chandler just fumbled out of bounds under the hoop?

This upcoming stretch of games will be a good test for him. I think he'll figure it out.

I agree. Now that "Linsanity" has died down, we can view him for what he is: a young player with big upside. He's learning on the job and I'm satisfied with where he is at this point.

He hit a 3 late in regulation to get the Knicks close. And hit his typical hang in the air layup/shot sometime before the game was over.

                      Unless I turned my head...he was a non-factor.

How many games before we view him like a starting PG on a playoff contending team?

He needs to run the offense or get benched.

And I'm not talking turnovers because Baron's racking them up too.

I'm talking about picking up his dribble, willingness to dump it into Melo, doesn't run P&Rs, etc.

When we lose...he plays the exact same game. Hesitant and scared.

When we win...he runs the offense.

I'm not being hard on him IMO. I think I'm being quite fair.

I don't care if he doesn't score a point. But I want a PG out there to run the offense. If we don't score...fine.

But when he picks up his dribble...everything goes haywire and guys start playing one-on-one.

Even when Baron is out there...we don't really run the offense. Baron kinda freestyles his way out there but is savvy enough to get into the lane.

Weren't you the one who initially posted how Lin folds under pressure, then after he scored 5 consecutive points (layup and 3-pointer) and Celtics called timeout, you requoted yourself saying, "Err...umm...yeah."

I'll give it he played poorly yesterday, but he looked clutched during that brief moment.

Yep...that was me. He hit a big, uncontested 3 in a crucial moment. I give him that.

But people give Lin a pass way too often and coddle him.

The Knicks need him to play well or they don't really have a chance. We've seen that over the last 3 weeks.

                          He has to toughen up.

It most certainly did back fire. Carmelo got that rebound with 18 seconds left with no Celtics anywhere near him and it didn't look like they were going to foul him immediately. He could have easily ran off a few more seconds. Instead, D'Antoni immediately calls the TO stopping the clock and let's Doc coach up his guys and have them foul ASAP after the inbound. Those few seconds not running off the clock were crucial and cost us the game, IMO.

We give him a pass because the guys we pay $100 million aren't doing what we got them to do and Lin's doing far more than what we expected. It's a 5 man game and if he isn't getting it done, someone else should be, probably the guys that should have been to begin with.

Landry Fields probably needs to go to the bench in favor of Shump. Dude has 13 points on 6/19 shooting in the last three games combined. D'Antoni's slowly been curtailing his minutes.

I think Shump deserves to start, but I can understand D'Antoni keeping him on the second unit, as to not mess up their recent chemistry. That said, he had better continue to let Shump get those crunch time minutes and more PT than Fields.
