It'd be worth a shot. Seeing how Lowry was traded for what ended up being a 12th overall pick(unless things change at the draft lottery), so instead of him, maybe whoever gets 1st pick would rather our pick instead of Lowry to go along with the players we give them.

Re: Toronto Raptors
A lot of things can change in a trade like this. Lowry's performance could easily go two very different ways, our draft pick could be higher or lower, etc."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: Toronto Raptors
If there was ever a time for Raptors to want to improve, now would be THE time.
Division wise, Knicks and Nets will still be better, but Celtics are aging(and looks like Pierce is done and KG might be too) and Raptors already same level as 76ers, and with 8th in the east being BELOW .500, a playoff contending team in the east could very easily finish 7th.Comment

Re: Toronto Raptors
Been thinking somethings gonna happen for like 1-2 weeks now and it hasn't. But with Leafs out of playoffs, nothing else for MLSE to really be focusing on except Raptors(since for once, the Leafs head into offseason with no questions about whether ___ or ___ should be fired, so nothing really of MLSE concern regarding Leafs team), so something better happen.Comment

Re: Toronto Raptors
Raptors sent BC to the draft camps meaning they're either gonna keep him, or fire him and waste the entire draft camp by not having an actual GM present.
I think this is proving more and more that the big problem with Raptors isn't really GM or anything, it's MLSE constantly screwing them. Even though MLSE got a new guy there, he seems to be having to wait on the rest of MLSE to make a decision.
Sounds like Rip Hamilton could be bought out real soon. If so, I think Raptors should really consider bringing him on. Would be a fairly good bench player for us, and would be able to help out guys(especially Ross and even DeRosan) a fair bit in terms of bringing a veteran presence(and one who's actually won nba championship) to the team.Comment

Re: Toronto Raptors
Hopefully they live up to the Monday deadline and do something by then!
Would be interesting if we did get the Pacers GM or even OKC assistant GM to be our new GM, as both teams have gotten good players who aren't those big name guys we always hear about(OKC did have Durant, who's one of biggest names in NBA, but it wasn't cause of anything anyone did while GM of OKC Thunder,it was Seattle team that had Durant)
Prichard would be great guy to get.
Some of his notable moves:
Traded Tyrus Thomas,Viktor Khryapa for LaMarcus Aldridge
Traded Randy Foye + Cash for Brandon Roy
Traded Cash for James Jones and Rudy Fernandez
(Those 3 moves alone were done in 2 season period)
Pritchard did draft Oden over Durant, but I think anyone would've done the same thing at the time. Oden was hyped up as like the next Shaq or something. He was basically unanimous 1st pick. Especially to a Blazers team that already had a scorer in Brandon Roy.Last edited by Majingir; 05-17-2013, 03:12 PM.Comment

Re: Toronto Raptors
I would love to trade Bargnani to OKC for their 29th or somewhere around there and take Shane Larkin.
Yeah, Prichard would be an excellent guy to get. I really like the idea of building like the Pacers.
And re: Oden, when he was healthy, he's been absolutely stellar, so he isn't a bust in the sense that he played badly; he just couldn't stay healthy. It's not the worst pick ever lol."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: Toronto Raptors
Suns have 30th pick. So while they might take someone like Zeller at their 4th overall spot, they still could use a starting guy at C. 30th pick for Bargnani would be good deal too.
LeBryan Nash seems to be someone who could be good, but supposedly his attitude sucks(being compared to Ron Artest like attitude) but he's good defender. So would be great guy to have off the bench. So Gay/DeRozan would be the starting guys who score, then we'd have Nash on bench as their replacement to hold what hopefully is the lead.Comment

Re: Toronto Raptors
OKC needs a stretch big like Bargs to spell guys like Ibaka / Perkins. I could see them amnestying Perkins and having Bargs/Collison start at C. I think we could get their pick.
I'd take Nash, who's a great suggestion, but I like Larkin due to his insane speed, great scoring ability, and ability to run a unit. If he was taller he'd be a way higher pick."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: Toronto Raptors
nvm what I said. Just realized I was looking at 2014 draft. Surprised they have scouting reports/projections up for those guys already.
But of PG projected around late 1st round/early 2nd round, Kabongo and Canaan seem like better options than Larkin.
I'm just basing it off of what I read on nbadraft.net but...Canaan seems to be better than(or equal to) everything minus passing and intangibles compared to Larkin.
And Kabongo seems to be real even all around but is real quick, only negative seems to be how NBA ready he is(which might not be a problem for us, if we do just have Lucas as backup PG and just have Kabongo in D-League for a season). He's also from Toronto, so if he does end up being good, a real plus in our favor cause he's more likely to want to stay with us. He was also teammates with Tristan Thompson, maybe things could work in our favor and when Thompson first becomes UFA, he comes over to us(to not only play for Toronto, but also play with an old teammate)
Archie Goodwin seems like a guy who could be a sleeper pick in draft. One site has him at 18th,another at 37th, so who knows how he'll end up. NBADraft.net says his potential is at 9(he's one of only 9 guys the site even gave a 9 or higher potential rating to)Last edited by Majingir; 05-17-2013, 10:05 PM.Comment

Re: Toronto Raptors
Reading back posts, seems like we both suggested him at one point(I did around time we first got Gay, you did near end of season).
I completely forgot I even suggested him before, and that he was even from Toronto, I just looked at his profile on draft site and he seemed good, then I saw he was from Toronto and it was a plus.
None of this really matters right now since Raptors don't even have a pick lol, and I don't believe they can even acquire a pick until the draft, so no real point in speculating on anything.
Draft lottery is on Tuesday though. Raptors have around 2% chance of keeping their pick(and no team in history has gotten 1st overall pick with less than 1.5% chance at the lottery(Raptors have less than 1% chance of getting it))Comment
