Didn't think he would last long being unsigned.

I'm not a fan of reddit at all, but I do occasionally check out the Knicks subreddit for news. I noticed this.

        https://www.reddit.com/r/NYKnicks/co...ck_rose_trade/

They've gained 500 subscribers since the D-Rose trade. That's crazy.

There's probably a generation of kids in Chicago who got into basketball because one of them made it and was going to play for the hometown team. This whole situation outside of him coming to our team is so sad to me I almost can't deal with it. I can't describe how hard im gonna be rooting for him to play well this season.

That's how this new generation of "fans" are.

They're not loyal to a team (not saying they have to be).

But it's why fans went from rooting for the Cavs then Heat and back to the Cavs. All for one player.

These fans are finicky and hard to please. They really can't sit through tough times. It's easier to just move on to another team.

I don't disagree but I think there's some leeway in D Rose and LeBron's cases, they were more than the sport. They're the community, they're you if you're a kid coming up in that area. I can see why you would root for them over anything, or hate the organization for ****ting on your guy leaving (in LeBron's case). I dunno, these teams don't have any loyalty (not that I would expect them to, they're a business) I don't fault anyone for not being loyal in return. There's probably a guy in Seattle that spent his whole life and hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting the Sonics with season tickets, gear, and everything for what? For them to sell to some dudes and move them. It is what it is.

At the same time, that's how the NBA has been marketing itself for the last ~30 years. The door swings both ways.

LeBron used to publically disown Cleveland making it very clear that he was from Akron. Also had no problem mocking them with Yankees and Cowboys hats.

                  Their fans were front runners.

Im moreso talking about kids that look up to these guys, not adults. I don't think little kids are "front runners" I think they see something they like and they like it, in these cases guys from places just like them that made it. I was more talking about them, a kid who was like 8 or 9 when D Rose got drafted is 16 or 17 now and the team from the city you're from is trading away one of its own, the one that brought you in. I'd bet there's an uptick in Knicks jerseys in Chicago high schools and colleges this year.

Side note, finally read that KP in Latvia article, it's great. The best part is when a kid attending the camp apparently almost crossed up Sacha. I have absolutely 0 problems believing this happened lol.

The Derrick Rose press conference will be on MSG at 4:00.

Edit: Maybe not. It will be on ESPN News though.

Rose on recruiting Noah to the Knicks: "I want him. He knows that. I think his family knows that. I think everyone knows that."
                          And it begins.

Hope that WAS rumor about maxing him out is bogus.

I hope so, that's outrageous. They can't be serious about paying a dude who missed most of the year a max contract, that's damn near a million per game played last year.

Side note, anyone see how happy he was when he got asked about Porzingis? Between the Melo relationship, Durant "unicorn" comment, and this, I think we've got our free agent attraction. I don't think we've got a shot at Durant, but for lesser guys and superstars in the future we've got a guy that guys seem to want to play with.

Even more random, I'm watching Defining Moments on MSG and really have to question the judgment of the person that put this perfectly good HD camera in front of Jeff Van Gundy, zoomed in to about a foot and a half away when you can see the individual sweat beads on his face...and then said "I think we need to be closer".
