Re: Carlos Quintana outpoints Paul Williams
You watched Oscar fight Hopkins and can honestly say he tried his hardest to win that fight?
I don't think Oscar tried his hardest to win the first fight with Floyd. He was squared up numerous times and didn't throw punches. He knows you can't beat Floyd by counter punching so I have no idea what he was doing. His best chance is to get his jab off first and work from there. He did well enough to secure a rematch, which was more money.
I guess it depends on who initiated the talks on getting this fight going. If Floyd really wanted to retire and Oscar brought an offer he couldn't refuse to the table, then I would say that Oscar wouldn't be above giving Floyd a scenario where they both get rich and Floyd comes out looking better to the public. The one thing that gets to PBF is that he is not considered the people's champion. KO'ing DLH would be one step in that direction.
You are right, the best money making scenario is for a close or controversial DLH win. But thats not going to happen, Floyd has too much pride to take a loss here.
Also, if you think Floyd really wanted to retire I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. He threatens to retire after every big win and will do it again if he wins the second DLH fight. He loves the money and fame too much to retire in his prime. I remember reading that he actually approached Oscar about a rematch but that doesnt matter. Its crazy to think that Oscar would throw a fight just to make Floyd look good esepcially when he gets nothing out of it.Comment

Re: Carlos Quintana outpoints Paul Williams
Good read about the impact on the welterweight division of Quintana's victory over Williams:
Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO's) defeated WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO's) by a 12 round split decision at the on Saturday night to win
Take care,

Re: Carlos Quintana outpoints Paul Williams
His boxing skills are sooo limited from what I saw. He could have a deadly jab with that kind of reach. He throws it alot but there's nothing behind it. He needs to be a more disciplined fighter.Comment

Not as one of the greatest welterweights of all time, it isn't. You can't put this guy into the category of Leonard, Robinson or Armstrong. He's not there yet, as I don't think he could beat any of those four. PBF is elite, but he's not in the pantheon.
The guy needs a signature victory in the division. Beating Baldomir, Judah and Hatton isn't enough.
The tide in my mind will start to turn if PBF beats Cotto convincingly.
Take care,

Some will argue his dominance over Hatton was enough or beating the recognized champ at Welterweight. Please remember that Cotto just got to this level, Floyd has been beating named oppoenents for some time.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment
