Several replays on HBO. The next three:
    Friday, 3-3:30 PM (Central Time)
    Friday, 9:30-10PM (Central Time)
    Early Sat, 4:05AM-4:35AM (Central Time)

Interesting to see Calzage work on the heavy bag with short (6 inches?) quick punches which were counted by computer. Afterwards he said (I'm paraphrasing), "8 punches a second-that's my secret!!"
I forget the exact number, but I think it was just under the 1440 punches in 3 minutes that would achieve an 8 punch per second pace.

Wow, 19 days since I started this thread-time flies by. Calzage is roughly a 5-2 favorite.

Hey Jaybee74 love the thread.....Do you think that JC coming up in weight is going to have a effect for him?.....carrying more weight could possibly effect his fatigue as the fight wears on and it got me thinking that what if JC fights a more careful and defensive fight then the usual attack and out punch style that we are use to seeing from him......Anyway I can't wait for this fight man,I am amped.....I took the poll and all.

I do think JC will not be able to be as busy and experience greater fatigue than normal...that said, hopkins can't throw half the punches JC does...look at his last few fights - i would never say that hopkins is 'busy'

I to don't think Bhop isn't as busy as JC,but Bhop throws effective and accurate punches. When he counters he counters with accuracy and power.Bhop may be 42 years old but he doesn't fight as if he is let's say 32.....Bhop understands his limits and he strenghts as a 42 year old fighter, and that's the thing that would scare me if I'm JC heading into this fight.BHop may have a big mouth and act as if his ego is bigger then everybody else is,but once you watch this guy in the ring, your like....."I see why he talks so much trash"......He is a dangerous fighter. This matchup in my eyes is a match made in heaven, because JC hasn't fought a guy of BHop's experience and Bhop hasn't fought a guy who throws not just punches in bunches, but accurate punches and has a motor that doesn't quit.........Man I'm just getting pumped thinking about tommorrow night.......

Along with Pavlik-Taylor 1&2 this is my most anticipated fight(s) in years.

Re: Countdown To Calzage-Hopkins 20 days away.

Prediction time...Calzaghe in a 4 point UD win.

                  Issues to consider...

                  1. Calzaghe coming over. Though he is a vet, you never know how someone will react in new surroundings.

                  2. Cortez is the ref. Based on history, this really favors JC. Roughhouse tactics (see Hatton-PBF for a recent example) are regulated with an iron fist by Cortez.

                  3. JC has an iron jaw.

                  4. JC throws a 1000 punches.

                  5. B-Hop is an AWESOME counter-puncher. If JC loses, it is because he would get rattled and lose his gameplan by B-Hops counter punches (see Briggs-Liakhovich for a recent example).

                  6. JC probably doesn't have the power to "hurt" B-Hop.

Still, can't bet against JC. JC in 12.

For boxing fans, you want JC to win. It would open up a lot more money matchups than a B-Hop victory would.

Thanks cjallure. No, the weight shouldn't be a big deal for JC-you are only talking about a 7 pound difference(from 168 super middle). Remember when Hopkins joined the lightheavy ranks he went up a full 15 pounds from middleweight. Calzage has fought his entire career at super middle so he has fought more bigger stronger guys than Hopkins.Notice when Jeff Lacy was brutalizing opponents that Hopkins didn't call him out?

I'm going with Hopkins with a UD. I like Joe. Ive watched him 4 times. He was impressive against Calzaghe and Lacy but looked sloppy against Bika. I just dont trust the fact that he's never fought outside of the UK and never fought a fighter with the experience and skill of Hopkins (Kessler was skilled but wasnt experienced.) It will be an ugly fight but I think Hop will win.

I agree......in the polls I picked BHop,but I have been picking JC all over these boards.I just know this is a fight I marked on my calander since it was made offical. My heart is saying BHop but my mind is saying JC.....I'm a fan of both fighters and can't wait to see the match.

No way. Calzaghe drops Hop in the 10th. Hop is out of his league. Can't wait for this.

Are you serious? Has Hopkins ever been KO'd? No. Has Calzaghe ever KO'd a top contender? No.

I think Joe can win this fight but lets not go crazy. If he wins it will be by UD.

I don't think Hopkins can win by a decision.
