Odds on the fight vary but generally it has been pretty consistent at:
    Hopkins +190
    Calzage -240
Meaning a $100 bet on Hopkins would profit you $190.
You must risk $240 to win $100 if your chose is Calzage.

Man that is an incredible weekend April 12.

        Antonio Tarver - Clinton Woods
        Chad Dawson - Glen Johnson

and also Cotto - Gomez and Cintron - Margarito II

apparantly Clinton Woods is injury free and ready to go for Tarver. That should be an interesting fight. Check out the link:

Dawson Johnson... I have no idea what Glen Johnson will bring in this fight. But I will watch to see how Dawson can exploit the man that knocked RJJ out.

Cotto - Gomez... If Gomez sticks to boxing and doesn't get suckered into trading with Cotto, (as Gomez has done against some lesser opponents) he could win some rounds on Cotto. But can he take Cotto's power? I am not sure.

And... Antonio Margarito vs. Kermit Cintron II

Here is Cintron's chance to avenge his only loss after being stopped in the WBO welterweight championship match in 2005 by Margarito.

Now it's Cintron's IBF welterweight title that is on the line.

I like Cintron and I have a lot of respect for Margarito.

Margarito's never really been stopped, and Cintron's only had 2 decisions in his entire career (one a 6 round decision early in his career and the other a lopsided 10 round decision in 2003). So, a lot can happen. I think this fight gets into the later rounds, but I have no idea where it goes from there. If Cintron is really feeling strong, maybe he can stop Margarito. But Margarito has already TKO'd him once, and he will try to do it again. Cintron will have to overcome his demons if he will have a chance. He can't worry about the first fight. It's in the past.

Cintron has won 5 straight fights by KO since that defeat, so he will bring a nice winning streak into the ring and his IBF title.

Which of these fights do you guys find intriguing?

I don't see it. This is like Secretariat up against a good allowance horse. Gomez looked impressive against a used up Gatti, but now he faces a whole new class level. I'll watch it to see how much punishment Gomez takes before he quits or it's stopped.

Interesting fight, given the remarkable comeback career of Glenn Johnson. I think age will probably catch up to Johnson, but I've seen little of Dawson, who stands as a big favorite.

Both are at the end of good careers so it comes down to who wants another big payday more. Don't know how much the injuries marred Wood's previous performances.

I'm really looking forward to this one given Cintron's revenge factor and his IBF belt up for grabs.

I know you weren't talking about me but Sugar forgot more than I'll ever never know about boxing. He's a great historian period, and a real classy guy. Wonder why it took him so long to get in the "Boxing Hall of Fame"?

every boxing fan is a know-it-all...that's just how we are

I know what you intended, and the gist I think is that Bernard relies on a lot of clever 'tricks' kind of like how vet nba players stayin the league by bending the rules, tugging shorts etc.. bernard is like that with his head, shoulders, elbows, ring movement, he knows where the judges and ref is at all times etc..
Calzaghe is still in his prime, and doesn't do these things yet because he doesn't need to do anything to get an 'edge' yet.

I probably fit in the the burt jr. category for SOME boxers with very strong opinions It's an intense sport and I get intense thinking about it.
we all know it all, and we're always right, even when we dissagree

You're right-look at me with the Tyson poll. I couldn't accept the fact that many OSers put Iron Mike in the Top ten. I believed that strongly, as did Tyson supporters who put him in the Top 5 or 10.

I didn't mean to come off as harsh. Just something I noticed about the Boxing forum.

I mean with the great April lineup that we have, let's just enjoy it without having a pissing contest when it's all just opinions really.

I agree. Sometimes you are really pulling for one of the boxers too, so that could shade your opinion even if just a little.

I'm predicting wins for both Cotto and Cintron, Cotto should deystroy Gomez, Cintron has looked really good since the last fight, he'll get him in the rematch.

On Countdown To Calzage/Hopkins they put it in perspective-the greatest middleweight of our era against the greatest super middleweight of our era fighting for a light heavyweight title.

I think I'll watch this over the UFC at least the main event...

I'd rather watch hopkins lose, even if he makes it boring because I'm almost positive gsp will destroy 'terra' sera.

Hopkins is in darn fine shape not just for a 40+ year old, but for anyone. But, I think that Clazaghe will just be too active. I think JC in a UD, and I would be very suprised if either man hit the canvas.
