    Re: Anyone get prizefighter yet?

When somebody starts calling me a troll I take that to mean somebody's implying that I don't have the game and am just bashing it for the sake of bashing it. This is not the case. I did not want to dislike this game. Anybody here can feel free to look through any past threads about PF on this board and you'll find i've been pretty enthusiastic about it. I'm down on this game because IMHO it's a very mediocre boxing game.

On the Rocky games you could literally jab your way to victory. I can step-in jab my way to victory on PF. This game may have a little more variety in punches and body movements than the Rocky games but the core gameplay itself IMO is very much on par with the Rocky games. You can disagree all you want but having played all 3 games that's my perception.

that was me that said that. But yeah, I am not button mashing and fighting out of control. Just meant that after a while my fingers start hurting. I really like not having Haymakers. You actually have to box and be smart. I really don't try and KO anyone. I just try and pick the guy a part and win each round. Eventually I KO them after I wear them down.

I still think there are too many knock downs in fights. Would be nice to see some Knock Outs and them not get back up the first time they go down.

You're saying you can step-in jab and win all the time? On what difficulty?

Any figure out how to get the classic boxers? I got the James vs Baer thing from career mode but still can't use them in any mode.

I agree, if I could change one thing right now via a patch, would decrease computer knockdowns. I rarely get knocked down, and even though I break down my opponent (which is way too much fun), they always get up a few times. Only a couple of times did they stay down after one or two knockdowns and that was super rare because the bell was saving them from knockdowns and by the time I put them on the canvas, their stamina was very low.

Beat the classic challenge and each fighter will get unlocked. I haven't checked exhibition, but Braddock and now Baer are all unlocked for me online. I assume Louis, then Marciano, etc...

                Re: Anyone get prizefighter yet?

For those interested, someome has posted some videos on youtube titled "Don King's Prizefighter footage" with a total of 3 videos labeled footage 1-3. probably over 15 minutes of gameplay footage combined.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Surprised at the scoring of an online bout I had. Two of the judges had the first 5 rounds scored 10-10 and despite landing 225 of 391 punches (57%) to his 233 of 532 (43%) the judges saw fit to give it to him 79-78, 79-78, 78-78. Let me add that I had him hurt several times throughout the fight.

A tie round in boxing is VERY rare.

I just finished the Baer v Louis and unlocked Baer, guess I failed the Braddock fight.
That going to be lame if I have to start a new Career to unlock the Braddock fight again.

I don't know. I am sure there will be some unlock codes, but I guess in the future, keep reseting until you beat each challenge.

How long are the rounds? A 10-10 round is more probable in a 1:00 round, a 1:30 round, or a 2:00 round than in a 3:00 round. Still, even in a 3:00 round, 10-10 round are common depending on the type of judge and how close the action is in the ring. In America, 10-10 rounds have become increasingly rare. Still, Teddy Atlas on Friday / Wednesday Night fights still marks 10-10 occasionally on his card, for whatever that's worth.

Overseas however, especially in the U.K., 10-10 rounds are common. For example, on Sky Sports, the first round of De La Hoya - Steve Forbes was marked a 10-10 round by their ringside commentary team.

American judges would probably just give that round to De La Hoya 10-9 based on notoriety. Frankly, the more 10-10 rounds you see the more unbaised the judges usually are, especially if the rounds are clearly close, meaning both fighters are throwing a lot and landing some punches throughout a round.

I am very interested to see how the judges score fights in this game, and if the scoring is adjusted somehow for shorter rounds.

The main problem I have with less than 3:00 rounds is that there is less time for fighters to separate themselves on the cards. Also less time to score knockdowns and get fighters hurt. Boxing really is a battle of attrition where you have to protect yourself at all times. It is very important to abide by the rules of boxing.
