One thing thats funny about the game though is if you fight a quick exhibition fight before doing career you'll get blasted. But once you go through the career it's like you really get trained and about the time you finish you can hold your own against the real fighters in the exhibition.

prizefighter was a clumpy game that played in slowmo. resembled real boxing even less then fight night games, in a completely different way

I'm digging this game but I have a lot of Fight Night in my system. Blocking with the analog is gonna take some getting used to before it becomes second nature to me. I take a lot of body shot right now because when I see the shot coming I'm not reacting like I should.

Fight Night really needs to steal these the training games from Prizefighter because they're waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

T.O. What about me? I played this game for a while and it's the worst imo. Clipping is out of control. The aniamtions are stiff as hell. The commentaryis horrible. I really tried to like this game but the lack of polish made it super trash imo. How does this game play sim? Where was the fun factor in this game? Every boxer seemed the same. This game should have never been released in the conditions it was. I'm sorry we agree on most things but to me this isn't one.

I still think you had to give it some more time. Between the time you stopped playing it and the time I went on there was much more to the game. Understanding the movement and the flow of the game. Matter of fact I could have bailed on the game at the same point you did but I know for a fact that if I did I would be no expert on the game and couldn't come to tell people about the game. Some points you mention are valid but also not. For instance clipping. They way were fighting it was an issue but not "out of control" but I can honestly say that every fight I had with you I had no idea of what I was doing thereby leading to some bad looking clipping issues. Since those fights I rarely see any clipping because I was, at some point, able to erase fight night from my style and go to a more realistic approach to the game.
When people fight as fighters the game runs great but when people aren't the game doesn't handle that as well.

The animations look fine to me compared to other games out there. Sure they could be better but they're better than the current crop of console games. Fight night I swear looks like Rock em Sock em robots.

And one key thing is all the boxers are certainly not the same. The more I played the clearer that became and those who are really skilled with the game play that way. There are definite strengths and weaknesses to each boxer but they are subtle in execution but quite noticeable when in the ring.

I totally agree with you on the commentators. They had potential to do a whole lot more and they fell way short in that department. I mean you got the big names in boxing commentators and thats all they could do. I mean sure it's better than nothing but it could have been tons better.

Sim play is DEFINITELY there with this game. Once one masters , or at least gains a real understanding of the controls and punches and their effects then you'll definitely see some sim fights. All except the sweeping body blow. They really need to rework that one. It's not pretty at all but that's just one punch out of many.

For a first try into boxing it was a good release. There are things they should have patched but never did and thats a shame.

They have a good base and a pretty good game that they can expound on should they try a second hand at it.

This game is awesome. I played it for a good 2 hours straight and have finally gotten a solid feel for the controls. Honestly, I think that's why most of us didn't give it a fair chance in the first place. Prizefighter is much more realistic than Fight Night. I'm glad that I decided to buy it. I haven't played online yet, but I'll probably give that a try over the weekend sometime. You'll get beat up when you first get the game, but play through the career for a bit before you give up on it. Once you get the controls down you'll really start to see what it has to offer.

Yep, the game was fun playing through the 1st time, but its really about a 4.5 to 6 at best. 13 knockdown fights, judges that don't have a clue, no stoppages or cuts. You played a story and not really a career. It had some cool stuff to it but it was an unfinished product plain and simple.

I can't get Sim fights I win every fight by KO in 3 rounds or less.

If you see that his health isn't moving back out and get your punch stamina back up. Lag is disguised in this game which make for great "looking" fights (no players jerking around the ring or appearing in one spot and then instantly appearing in another spot due to lag or other things associated with lag) but at a cost for punches not registering. It usually comes in a "groups". So if you're working some dude with a combo and you see that first 2 punches do damage then everything you throw in that series will do damage but if you break out the action and you guys go at each other again maybe (not always) the next series you throw 2 and his meter doesn't move then more than like if you continue throwing the rest wont land either. On your screen it'll look like you're working him but on his screen he's slipping all your punches and countering you.

Prizefighter is not great. I rented it and played it a fair amount. There are some quality things to it, and it makes a good rental because the story is good, but since you can't do a more conventional career mode in the weight of your choice the replay factor is very bad.

There are serious problems in the ring. Too many fights simply become "hard" punch fests. Animations can be horrible (almost every hook landed) they are over exaggerated. Collision detection has a bunch of issues. Like most boxing games the jab is crappy and the right straight has more reach (why do games do this?)

The judging is crappy.

It's just not a very good game in the end. It's ok and a decent rental, but it just has too many issues.

It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but the game is very frustrating as you progress in the story the fights seem to get worse and worse.

In a way I wish they didn't sign the fighters that they did, I'd rahter see them in fn4.

It was a decent first effort, but it just doesn't cut it, and once you've been playing for a while, there's nothing sim about it.

not bashing the game, just telling hte honest truth after putting a good deal of time into the game.
