What I meant is five power and five toughness will produce fewer KO's than 10 and 10 because they don't cancel each other out. You would think so, but fight with them both at zero, both at three, both at seven and both ten and you will see more KO's on both sides with power and toughness at ten and ten. If you have one power and one toughness, the one power is greater than the one measurement on toughness. To cancel out it would have to be 8 power and 10 toughness, something along those lines. If the power to toughness is both five it will be more like six and five if that makes sense. Four power to five toughness cancels out usually, which causes lesser damage and lengthens the fight.

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
While from an organization standpoint it might be nice, I think you'd find that a FNR4 slider subforum would be relatively unused. There's really about a half dozen of us that are keeping this thread going.
I've tried to keep up with everybody's posts and compile the sliders into a single file. Download this and see if it helps.
I just figured it might be more helpful in helping people decide which sliders are best for them, I mean the NCAA MVP Baseball Forum has a slider subforum and that game is 2 years old.Comment

However, on the flip side there are only a handful of people keeping this thread alive. Also, Jukeman has done a tremendous job of keeping the sliders updated within the first post. Just check the last edit date--it's only five days old and up to date.
I personally am enjoying act238shaun's GOAT sliders with the power down to 7--I was just getting too many stuns at 8. I think I'm going to try lowering the toughness a notch to see if that helps with the CPU having to be knocked down four times in order to get a KO.Comment

I agree that it is odd this forum doesn't have a sub set up for the sliders, although, so many other games have there own dedicated slider section.

I am messing with Shaun's sliders also, but I'm also trying to develop a natural boxing strategy instead of a kill or be killed street fighter mentality I'm coming from FNR3 where my career record is 69-0-0 with 69 KOs and no fights going longer than 6 rounds.
But I'm kinda stuck, I'm used to face buttons and I'm at the point where I'd rather wait to start my legacy when EA finally offers buttons as a DLC,because the sticks are not giving me the accuracy I'm used to and I have given the sticks countless hours.

Thanks for the spreadsheet Parker......Has anyone tried Power and toughness both on zero. I know its a bit extreme, but I may give it a go in Fight Night mode just to test it out.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I've got the sliders right where I want them, but I just don't think I'm gonna be able to use them. By the 7th or 8th round, my hands are so cramped and sweaty playing on GOAT that I can't do anything with precision. I've gotten knocked out in the 8th or 9th round 4 times in a row now, despite being up on the cards 3 out of the 4 fights, because I make a bad move or my thumb slips off the stick and I get caught with a counter and can't get up.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
The big problem with GOAT that I've found so far is that regular punches don't do enough damage, if any at all, to the CPU.
I just played as RJJ against Adamek. In 3.5 rounds (he knocked me out in the 4th), I LANDED 124 of 209 HOOKS and his health and stamina were still near full. I hit him a couple of times with a left hook to the head/right hook to the head combo, both shots landing cleanly on the temple, and he his blue bar went down by just a sliver. The ONLY punch that hurts the computer at all is the counter. By contrast, his punches sting no matter where he hits you and how hard. His jabs did TWICE as much damage as my hooks.
This was with Power at 6 and Toughness at 3.
In a previous fight with both at 6, I went the distance with Jorge Arce against Donaire and managed to do it without getting knocked down. However, his health bar at the end of 10 rounds was FULL and mine was empty, despite me landing nearly 250 more punches...Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

If his health is that high at the end of a fight the only way I can figure is he is dominating and able to use points to refresh between rounds. That would just take practice to overcome.
However, if you are landing 250 or more punches on GOAT than the cpu lands. . .I really don't know what to say. When I play against the CPU we average about that number for the entire fight (landed).Comment

Wow, I don't know what to tell you. I'm using act238shaun's sliders and don't have that problem in the least. Fights actually get stopped by the ref in the middle of rounds due to damage to the cpu.

I've found that with shaun's sliders (or with GOAT in general) that the problem is very small or even non-existent at heavyweight and gets increasingly worse as you go down.
The fight I referenced above (Arce/Donaire) was with the two smallest fighters in the game. Arce has power in the upper 30's and he does zero damage.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
OK, after more testing with dummy CABs in Fight Now, I've found that the counter window on GOAT is TWICE as long as the counter window for the player. Damage for the CPU is double, as I explained above.
I've been able to get competitive fights by simply not throwing punches. If you throw punches on GOAT, you're going to get hit, period. So while that makes for a very entertaining game, how is that FUN? Every match seems to be the same - guard, duck, guard, counter. Rinse and repeat.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I have been watching this thread with interest and have tried Parker's Champ sliders and I'm now onto Parker's & Shaun's GOAT sliders.
From struggling to win on Champ I can now win reasonably comfortably (Champ) with Parkers sliders unless I get careless. However, I have tried the suggested sliders on GOAT and love the feel of the match. Been playing Lewis (me) v Tyson to practice for Legacy - I have a Lewis type boxer.
I have won once out of around 15 fights - that said I have been in each fight and just got careless or failed to keep my distance letting Tyson get inside and then trading blows.
I like the way the AI boxes on GOAT seems realistic style wise and I have managed to hurt Tyson and have him backing off for a round or so - I then get greedy and close in and get nailed. I think that you have a point Parker I have hurt Tyson and he backs off allowing me to pick him off with jabs and straights and unless I connect with a haymaker left uppercut the standard punches just don't hurt him enough.
So I love the feel of GOAT (!) but has anybody got any tips for softening the sliders a tad for fight now. Are they likely to translate into legacy just fine as they are given the gentle start ?
A note of thanks to the guys for the input on this thread - not many posts by me but I have been viewing and testing the suggestions.
CheersComment

At zero and zero the fight will go on to the end most fights.
Parker, I agree that you have to be very defensive on my sliders. You could try lowering the CPU DEF AI to limit countering.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
In the 6th round, he started to leave his head open. In the span of about 10 seconds, I swooped in 3 times in a row and threw a single punch, this time a left uppercut instead of a jab. All 3 uppercuts hit him SQUARE in the chin. His damage bar blinked. It didn't drop, it BLINKED, as if to acknowledge that I hit him but he's invulnerable and can't be hurt.
THAT is frustrating. The thing is, the FEEL of GOAT is so much better than Champion - SO much better. The problem is that the CPU is given just too much of an advantage.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment
