Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Despite the frustration with finding sliders that work for everyone I'm still finding this game extremly enjoyable.
I got to spend a lot of time this week playing the game, and I want to post a video of my last fight, just to showthe sliders I'm using.
I want to say that these sliders arent totally mine - I have adjusted them based on things I liked from parkers sliders, jukes sliders, my own experiments with punch output and toughness versus power rating, and then adjusted facial damage to what felt "right". Basically, for me, this entire thread has culminated in these sliders. Which shows that this thread has done its job
Anyway, I'm not saying to use them, I'm not saying they are great - but I think I will be sticking with them for some time.
These are legacy mode only - I dont mess with fight now much.
The purpose of these sliders was to get me to a place where the endgame in legacy is playable, enjoyable, yet not easy; at all - all while still playing like a real boxing match should.
Pay attention to the set up, this info is important to the sliders themselves - namely the stat comparison.
I am now a 31 year old fighter. I have a record of 42(40)-11
I am ranked #5 P4P.
I am #1 contender in middleweight.
I just lost 2 belts in a unification match against Sergio Mora... (seriously? After the match, all three belts were distibuted among different people... Sergio had not fought either. WEIRD... so much for a rematch to win my belts back
A lot of boxers in legacy mode, at the championship level had ******** stats. Here are minehis. and mine - both taken after out bout.
Sergio:
Overall: 93
Left Pwr: 97
Right Pwr: 97
Hand Speed: 96
Acuuracy: 97
Foot Spd: 98
Head Movement: 96
Block: 97
Head Toughness: 99
Body Toughness: 99
Stamina: 96
Heart: 96
Cuts: 66
Swelling: 61
Chin: 98
Yeah... right?
Mine.
Overall: 85
Lft Pwr: 85
Right Pwr: 95
Hand Speed: 91
Accuracy: 100
Foot Speed: 92
Head Movement: 84
Block: 99
Head Toguhness: 91
Body Toguhness: 94
Stamina: 100
Heart: 92
Cuts: 88
Swelling: 24 - I have had a long career of getting punded in the face lol).
Chin: 92
Okay, so, I have a lot of high skills, but I feel its impossible for any PLAYER to get their stats as high as his without using the cheat.
So I tinkered with the sliders and have finally settled on this set. The only think I am thinking of doing at this point is lowering Power - though I really do not want to.
These sliders will let you dominated opponents that have a large disadvantage - and makes the endgame, higher level fighters semm a little more manageable. I don't know about you, but I normally get KILLED by guys with 99's after most of their stats.
Here are the sliders:
Camera: Wide
HUD: Off
Diff: Champion
Saved by Bell: Off
3 Knock Down: Off
Ref Foul Awareness: 10
Ref Damage Awareness: 10
Power: 5
Speed: 3
Physical Dmg: 6
Toughness: 2
CPU Off Awareness: 8
CPU Def Awareness: 6
Punch Output: 1
I can best describe the feel of the matches as the flow of GOAT without the cheating... Take it for what you will. You can see by my postings here that I dont often get this detailed, so I wouldnt bother with this if I didnt think it might help someone looking for sliders.
Now, I will post what may well be my fighters last match. I had two belts, Mora had one. This one was for all the marbles. Match is played in its entirety.
If, by some chance these sliders are exacly like any set posted here, accept my apology in advance - I havent looked at the front page since I adjusted to these.
Anyway, You'll see I get stunned several times, but the thing I have to emphasize here, is that during the fight, I didnt feel I was cheated or gyped... not once. Dude hit me with some good shots, but it wasnt the ridiculous never ending onslught I'm used to by fighters with ratings like his. I really think I would have won the fight had I not had to constantly spend points on damage due to my swelling problem.

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Wesman,
I don't think I've seen a knock down as brutal as what you suffered at the end of the 5th. Wow.
That aside, I really liked the look of the AI in that fight. I might try your sliders out for a few matches, but I'm really enjoying GOAT. Especially after taking down Tyson and Ali with a CAB during fight now. (yay achievements)
Some suggestions I'll make about your gameplay:
1) Be a little choosier with your punches. Make sure you have your distanced judged properly and watch for blocking patterns from your opponent.
2) Utilize your jab more. I saw a lot of hooks and uppercuts. Let the opponent get use to a jab or two at a time. Pretty soon they'll block that one or two jabs and then drop their guard. That's when you catch them with the hook or uppercut.
3) Move in and out. You throw some good flurries, but then stand your ground and suffer the retaliation. Step in, throw a short flurry, and get out. He'll come after you. That's fine. Let him come to you and walk into a straight or jab.
4) Be a little choosier with your punches. (Deja vu) You lost a lot of stamina after 4 rounds. I know you had to recoup your damage, but you should still have a good bit of stamina left after 4.
Again, I really did like how the AI played against you. Nice work on the sliders!Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Only can really defend one of those points - the jab. I get the jab countered so frequently, I usually give up on itI have been trying to make myself use it more, paying attention to their guard and even going downstairs with it.

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Start by throwing just one. You'll get beyond being countered all the time and just blocked as you get better at timing it. Soon you'll start to land on a regular basis. However, when they block they'll get accustomed to blocking just a jab and drop their guard. That's when you hit with the power shots.
Once you master the single jab you can start working the double. Tip: do not quickly push the RS for the double jab. Know what I mean? No tap-tap. Pace it, tap . . tap.Last edited by slayter; 07-27-2009, 09:27 AM.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Been using Shaun's sliders and am loving the challenge the CPU gives me...however...I noticed on PRO difficulty that it was much more realistic for me to get up after a KD.
At least after two KDs I was getting up...
However w/ diff. on Champion if a lesser fighter gets lucky and catches me w/ one of those haymakers that sends me down instantly a second KD will likely result in a KO.
There's been quite a few fights where I was completely rocking my opponent, my health was barely a qtr of the way gone...his half-way, and I had knocked him down two or more times.
In one particulare fight I was caught w/ a right hook (Southpaw) and that sent me to the floor. Then w/in 1 minute later I was back down again, and that was all she wrote.
Is there anything I can change to make a 2nd KD not end up in a KO...seemingly every time.
-or- Is it a user thing and I'm too aggressive on the left stick?

Ok...so once I've got the left stick into the yellow I should already be pressing up on the right stick?Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Like Juke said it is defiinitely a user thing. Having a higher heart rating makes it a little easier to get up past the 2nd knock down.
Like Jukeman I'm able to rise four times on GOAT, but the fifth has been simply impossible to due. (Because the meter only moved one click :P)
I find that if I overshoot the midway point I press fully in the direction of the momentum and it creates a nice rebound effect. For example, the meter is moving from left to right, but I push a little too far. I then hold right all the way to the end and then push left. I seem to get a little extra umph from it that way.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Ditto. Its 4am and I am waiting for mine.
Update: Ok, here are my post DLC sliders. Man they are awesome to have.
GOAT
Ref sliders 10
Power 5 (may go to 6)
Speed 5
Damage 10
Toughness 3 (may go to 5)
Accuracy 3 (you really see the auto tracking lessen)
Stamina 5
Cntr Wndw 0 (yes, zero)
CPU AI both 10
Output:
3 min rounds 0
2 min rounds 5
1 min rounds 10
The default values of the new sliders after download were:
Accuracy 10 (wtf!?!?)
Stamina 8
Counter Window 7
No wonder GOAT was so tough. I can turn the speed up now at least with accuracy more realistic and punches aren't auto tracking my head on bobs and weaves. Huge improvement! Let me know how they work for you.Last edited by acts238shaun; 07-28-2009, 09:35 AM.Comment
