    4) The counter window RUINS offline gameplay at higher difficulties. Regular punches don't do nearly as much damage relative to the counter, so you can't beat the CPU without countering him 30-40 times. In turn, the CPU knows he can't beat you without countering 30-40 times. So the game becomes a stupid dance, bob and weave, block and move, waiting for a counter window to open up.
Lol it sounds like boxing to me.

Yeah, if you're Floyd Mayweather. They should have put him on the cover, because every AI opponent in this game fights just like him.

Parker, I respect your comments tremendously, but I have to disagree with you on the idea behind the counters. I, too, LOVE the counter system, both vs. friend opponents as well as the A.I. As stated, it keeps you honest, knowing that if you let your hands fly too much, you can get caught. I also think the system is quite fair. I have yet to be flash knocked down/out, when countered from throwing a JAB. Yes, I get countered sometimes, but the only punch that will land in a jab counter window is another jab or cross. The window seems to vary depending on the punch thrown. This turns the game into a chess match, feeling-out affair where you probe with the jab and wait for an opening. You can be aggressive and attack, but you've got to start your combo's with jab, throw 1-2's and get out. Again, sounds like boxing to me.

In real boxing, any time you throw a punch your are susceptible to being rocked if you're not careful. I think the game accurately reflects this. And one last thing: the faster you execute your combo's, the less likely you are to be countered, ESPECIALLY if you start your combo with the jab. Just my own take...

I like the counter system a lot. It's a hell of a lot better than the parrying where you'd go into a stunned ******** state after getting a soft jab blocked in R3.

I don't disagree. The thing is, at least SOMETIMES when you let your hands fly, especially when you're fighting as a guy who should excel at it (like Tyson) you should be able to catch your opponent too. It simply doesn't happen. There is no reward in this game for being aggressive, at least not offline.

I've seen haymaker uppercuts land after throwing a straight. And I didn't miss, it was just short a few inches.

I love it too. Rarely do i throw anything more than a 1-2, then i get out in a defensive posture; more of an outside fighter myself The R-2 (PS3) button is a risk/reward that i don't often use. Leaves you too suseptable to the almighty counter.

What does the R-2 button do? Haymaker"

Because the Right shoulder button on the 360 throws haymakers and they're a complete waste of time. I have smaller hands and holding that button while still trying to use the right stick basically results in poorly thrown punches and me getting countered. They're just too risky and very rarely do they connect enough to make them worth it.

Parker you keep making more and more weird comments. The haymakers are a waste?????

You must not know how to use them correctly. Because other than a counter, the haymaker is the only other punch that can KO anyone at any time. 1 single lick, not even stun state, but flat out KO.

Opponent keeps walking in on you. I nail the body with haymakers. I land a nice combo, I might lead in with a Haymaker right cross. I have dropped many many opponents both ONLINE and OFFLINE with haymakers.

You have to learn to mix up your game it sounds like. I use all the tools that are offered. I duck, weave, head movement left stick, jabs keep fighters at bay, haymakers to catch opponent off guard. Mixing in a haymaker in with your standard punches.

                      1) I have an XBox 360. My hands are too small to both hold the RB and use the right stick to throw a haymaker. It's not at all a natural motion, especially for somebody that's had carpal tunnel issues.

                      2) Haymakers are horribly, horribly slow. There's very, very few opportunities to land them that won't result in a counter opportunity for the CPU.

Perhaps we're playing on different difficulty levels with different sliders, but that's just the way it is for me. It's fairly OBVIOUS from previous discussions we've had about this that you're FAR more skilled than I am. While you don't seem to have a problem with that, I do. Because this game is NOT sim. If it were, the ratings would matter more than a player's stick skills.

And FYI, there is no such thing as a haymaker right cross. The haymaker modifier only affects hooks and uppercuts.

Ratings are definitely significant, but the boxer can only be as good as the person controlling him.

Not sim? I have to disagree with you on that one man. This game is the business.

Another thing, who says you can only knock folks out with counters or haymakers? Thats a wrong assessment, but then again, my fights usually stretch out to the last round where stamina, damage and health are roasted, lol. So boxers are falling after catching straights, crosses, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the game. I just think the haymakers and counters are cheesy and detract from what could be a near-perfect boxing game.

I saw him say that, but didn't address it. I've played probably 1000 offline games now, an I've knocked guys out many, many times with punches that were neither a counter nor a haymaker, but rather just one, good punch. I knocked Hatton out with Pac Man on the first punch of the match with an uppercut.
