Gus Johnson was horrible. He was a blatant Dirrell cheerleader all night. Every backpedaling counterpunch by Dirrell was described as a massive shot by Johnson.

And you're right, Jay: I see no way that Dirrell beats Abraham. Counter and run will be an even less-effective tactic against Abraham because he is so much better technically than Froch. Abraham will use angles to land the hooks that Froch missed because Froch only attacks from the front.

Kessler is too slick and powerful for Froch, too. But Froch has power that could catch Kessler if he gets lazy. Froch also is so awkward and unorthodox that it can take time for a fighter to break down.

Plus the Taylor fight and Dirrell fight showed Froch almost seems to get stronger and more steeled as the fight progresses.

Because Mayweather actually uses his speed and skill to initiate offense. Countering and moving are a big part of Floyd's arsenal, but they're not the only part. It was about all Dirrell could do last Saturday night.

All the slick hand speed and head movement in the world doesn't mean sh*t if all you do is counter.

Two good stories about Dirrell's tactics with which I agree:

Two observations after the first two fights from William Detloff of The Ring with which I agree:

*It’s official: Gus Johnson is everything that should be loathed in a blow-by-blow guy. Newsflash, Gus: A guy can get hit on the chin without being, “STUNNED!!” …

*I don’t have to see all of the Super Six contestants’ wives or significant others to conclude that Carl Froch’s girlfriend is the hottest, any more than I have to see every human on the planet to know that Nicolay Valuev is a Sasquatch. …

He departed Berlin as originally scheduled and is now vacationing in Europe. “We are relieved to hear that Jermain is feeling better and that he could leave the hospital on Sunday,” Team Sauerland General Manager Chris Meyer said. “The health is more important than a win or a loss. Jermain is a great fighter and a great champion.”
And King Arthur Abraham added: “I was very sorry when I heard about him spending the night in hospital. I want to defeat my opponents in the ring but I do not want to harm them. The health is the most important thing and I am very happy that Jermain is doing fine. It was an honour to fight him.” Abraham will now start a brief vacation himself. “I hope I get some time off from coach Ulli Wegner. Now that I know that Jermain is okay, I can start to celebrate my success – but only for a couple of days before I begin my preparation for Dirrell.”

that's cool, but I mainly hate him because of his annoying fans. I've run into them on forums and such and hated them, so I "hate" him too. It's actually great when that happens because you have a reason to get more amped up for a fight...and it's even better because I'm a Kessler fan and I'm going to be hoping that he knocks him the hell out and it would make it so much more satisfying. Also some of his idiot fans might shut up after that.
