I admit I have not been fully sold on Pacquiao becuase I questioned the curcumstances of the apponents he beat.

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
last nights fight is what it took to show you Pac was the real deal? Last nights performance was his worst in a while. He fought a guy that just stood there like a punching bag and Manny just could throw as many punches as he wanted without having to worry about being hit back.
Even with Clottey hardly throwing punches, Clottey landed the best punches in the fight and landed way too many clean shots on Pacquiao and gave him a nice mouse under his eye. Cotto also tagged Pacquiao with a lot of clean punches.
If & when he fights a guy with defense that also has speed and will throw punches, like Mayweather, Manny is going to get tagged and picked apart. Its pretty easy to look good when you're fighting a guy that just stands there and lets you throw as many punches as you want without any risk. Mayweather is the best at avoiding real damage and blocking punches, and then countering and picking apart opponents with his amazing speed. -

didnt see the fight but from what it sounds like, Clottey took the money and ran home with it....i saw the stats.....he's never been a punching bag in his fights.... Cash that check Clottey...Comment

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
LOL, you should start a "Mayweather For President" campaign. Pac pitches a dominating shutout against a highly ranked opponent and you're talking about a "nice mouse" under his eye. You think Pac fought Oscar like he fought Clottey? You think Pac fought Hatton like he fought Clottey? You think Pac will fight Mayweather like he fought Clottey? So how does Mayweather use his "amazing speed" against somebody with "amazing speed"?
And the point about the mouse is that in his last 2 fights Manny has been hit with a lot of clean punches, even from Clottey when he actually did throw. How is that going to work against a guy as accurate as Mayweather and as fast as Mayweather.Comment

Finally to the bold part, let us say this together. Clean shots = Points, Points = Winning the judges cards. Funnily enough, clean shots also = higher likelyhood of knockouts. If a guy who's not even trying to win is landing clean shots that **** up your face like that, then a guy who is has some pretty good potential to...well **** you up, pardon my french.
You can make excuses for Pac all you want about how he isn't going to fight like that against May (should they fight) but he fought like that against a really good defensive fighter, Mayweather is the BEST defensive fighter in the sport, what on Earth reason is there to believe he's gonna try a different approach? Bad mechanics don't just go away and what you saw last night was bad mechanics. Nobody, I don't care who you are, how strong you are, how tough your chin is, NOBODY likes getting punched in the face, he's wasn't getting punched in the face because he let Clottey do it, he was getting punched because he doesn't know how to keep Clottey from doing it and he was banking on his speed and power to finish him off before he could actually be really hurt by the shots. Mike Tyson started buying into his own hype too and we know how that turned out for him. Granted that's a whole other weight class, but still...he's fortunate Clottey was all too happy to just have a nice payday and his name in the history books for the first pro fight at Jerry World and had no interest in being Buster Douglas.Comment

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
The last counter puncher with speed that Pacquiao fought was Marquez and we saw the trouble he had with him. Clottey stood there with his gloves up for 12 rounds and let Manny throw as many punches as he wanted. He won because he was the only guy throwing punches.

First and foremost, you can't lay claim to a dominating shutout when the guy you're "dominating" isn't even trying to win. It's like saying a guy that's repeatedly punching a guy who's knocked out from being drugged is dominating. Ummm...yeah, I suppose he would be "dominating" someone who's not moving or fighting back in an effort to end the fight.

Yeah-with my eyes wide open-try it sometime.

do you even watch boxing? The last counter puncher with speed that Pacquiao fought was Marquez and we saw the trouble he had with him. Clottey stood there with his gloves up for 12 rounds and let Manny throw as many punches as he wanted. He won because he was the only guy throwing punches.

If Clottey would've punched more, Pacquaio would've landed a lot more and would've rocked Clottey.
Pac got hit with some clean punches because he was throwing over 100 punches a round.... for 12 straight rounds. Dude has unlimited Stamina.
Pac has been hit, in his last 2 fights but he hasn't been hurt. So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
Pac fought Clottey the only way you really can fight a guy that can block his face and body at the same time."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
When you get a legitimate welterweight in his prime like Clottey to be scared to throw punches i think that's DOMINATING him..
I don't understand why people keep making excuses for Clottey (him not throwing punches) when he said himself that he was worried he would get clocked if he throws a lot of counter punches.. He got paranoid due to Manny's speed and power.
Clottey had 3 loses (1 disqualification) prior to the fight and everyone saw how close those 2 loses were against LEGIT welterweights ( Margarito and Cotto). Everyone said Pacman would have a hard time against him and yet he didn't even win 2 rounds against Manny..
How is that not a testament of how good Pacman is??Comment

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
Manny has that intangible that every boxer craves but very few obtain. Fear and intimidation. With the vast majority of opponents that means the fight is already half over for them because of the large mental aspect of boxing.
While Mayweather does have the skills to beat Manny I also find he has that character trait that Roy Jones Jr has. He doesn't like to be hit and will juke and jive to avoid taking the least amount of punches. It works fine as long as you're quicker and more skilled than your opponents but I have a feeling once Mayweather gets rocked by a punch, (with Manny it's inevitable it's gonna happen a couple of times) then he's gonna go into full Clottey mode and just run the rest of the way.
The same thing happened with Jones against Tarver and Jones was never the same after Jones' confidence got shattered with their 1st fight and he got destroyed in the rematch. I think that's Mayweather's biggest fear right now in fighting Manny in that it may screw up his confidence afterwards.Comment

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
I couldn't agree more with the last two posts.
If Mayweather vs Pac happens, two things are certain. Pac will get hit and Mayweather will get hit. But Pac will hit harder and Floyd will land more counter shots. But Pac will overwhelm Floyd and Floyd won't throw as many punches as Pac, ala clottey."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Re: I'm finally convinced. Pac's the real deal.
I dont even know why people are tossing PBFs name in this sh*t...He's scared. He had his chance and started taking all that steroid stuff...then he turns around and signs-on to fight Shane Mosley; a guy who's been known/under suspicion for years to be on roids!?!
If Floyd was a man he would have fought Manny and settled for that blood test after the fight. But Floyd is only out for the bucks at the easiest fight possible.
For all you PBF lovers out there I can respect the man because he's done a lot in his career, but the guy's scared of Manny. Don't hate on Manny just because your boy is a scared b*tch.Comment
