I don''t begrudge a man who is honest about why he fights. You do, I know why floyd fights and I'm comfortable with his decision. He fights for money not status. Just because you have a love affair with the so called best status doesn't change anything. You make my argument for me, Floyd fights are bankable fights and yes their is a big difference between fighting for 10 million and 3 million when you are the brand and have many people on the pay roll and a family too support. For you to be a fight fan and disagree is purely your dis like for the guy. Again the guys you listed aren't even memorable, will never have a legacy so fighthing floyd would not have improved their status simply because again they have been beaten by lesser fighters.

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
RJJ and B Hop are both legends, first-ballot Hall of Famers.
Floyd could have fought fellow first-ballot Hall of Famer Shane Mosley five years ago and instead fought the legendary Sharmba Mitchell. Ironically, he would have made more of that precious cheddar by fighting Mosley.
There is a difference. I guess you're blinded by the greenbacks.
I'm done with this argument because guys on the sideline questions a man who gets in the ring and try to discredit him because they don't like him and not once do they say anything about Corrales, Corley, Hatton, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Pick and chose your fighter insert duck this guy. And then when the guy fight someone else and lose to a lesser fighter, but he's still the best is funny too me.Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
Lol wow@the floyd haters.. Ducked casamayor? Floyd called him out numerous time. He never stepped up
Paul williams? He was not even on the radar. How is it a duck if you dont even know who the guy is?
Shane? It was shane who ducked floyd. Know your facts. Floyd called shane out numerous times, and shane came up with a weak excuse that his teeth hurt. At that time it was understandable that he didnt want to fight floyd because shane was the BIG name, and it was a high risk fight for shane.
Cotto? Floyd wanted him after the gatti fight at 140 pounds. Cotto people said he is not ready (maybe because he seen that *** whoopin floyd put on gatti).
People talked trash about floyd when he fought judah because they thought he was ducking Baldomir who had just beat judah. He fights Baldomir and makes it look easy, then people come up with the excuse of "well he wasnt that good anyway".Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
I was using this as an example as of todays status. Roy would be an easier fight but you will make a lot of money, B hop would be a harder fight but for less money. I was talking about todays b hop and roy. To make the example of all fighters would take the fight. You love trying to belittle his competition, when he was calling out Mosley where were you saying yeah Mosley fight Floyd? Yes Floyd called him out almost 10 years ago when Mosley was in his prime. Shane didn't want to fight why you ask their was no money in it for Shane the risk was too high for no reward.

You continue to show your slavish devotion to the zero at the end of Floyd's record, all in the name of "taking care of his family."
It's just funny that you're OK with an athlete taking money over challenge. In every other sport, you sometimes see players leave teams and take less money so they can win a championship, and they're praised.
Yet one of the best boxers of this generation is the GOAT because he takes money over challenges. One of the many idiosyncrasies of this beautiful sport.Last edited by pk500; 04-30-2010, 11:54 AM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
Thats true now. That wasnt true before the Oscar/Hatton fights. Thats where he became a bankable PPV draw. I hate that I'm defending Floyd but what do you guys want? He tried to make a fight with the #1 Welterweight (Pac) and couldnt do it because of Pac's issue with the drug testingXbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
A question for all the guys deep inside Floyd's protective cup on this board:
If Floyd loses to Mosley Saturday night (which won't happen), should he fight an immediate rematch to avenge the loss and defend his honor, or should he be allowed to sit on the sidelines, fight a stay-busy bout and wait to fight the winner of a prospective Mosley-Pacquiao bout for REALLY big bucks?
What's more important at this point? Revenge/legacy, or pure profit, especially since the zero would be gone? All a hypothetical and probably a moot point, as Floyd will win by a wide UD.
P.S.: I know the contract between Floyd and Shane has a rematch clause. I just don't know if it's an immediate rematch.Last edited by pk500; 04-30-2010, 12:01 PM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
A mosley fight wasnt on the table then. The Mitchell fight was his first at 147 and Mosley was fighting Wright at 154 then. Its silly to expect Floyd to fight Mosley at 147 or 154 in his first fight stepping up in weight.
Also Mayweather was repped by Arum then and during that time no Arum fighters were fighting Golden Boy fighters because of their rivalry,Comment

You would like to see a Williams fight over a Pac fight? I'd rather see Pac. Williams is a good second option.Comment

Floyd called out Shane so why do people continue with this crap that Floyd ducked Shane?Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
Explain to me how reality equals hate.
I admire the hell out of Floyd Mayweather as a boxer. He's a tactical genius, arguably the best pure boxer of this generation.
I only wish he displayed those skills against all of the best fighters in his weight classes of his generation, like his predecessors did.
So again, explain to me how that equals "hate," which, by the way, is one of the most overused, stupidest words in the modern lexicon today.
If you disagree with someone, even in a logical and rational way, you're a "*****." Comical.Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
So I guess Evander Holyfield never should have fought Mike Tyson because Tyson's status was diminished because he lost to the lesser Buster Douglas? Ali never should have fought Frazier the third time because Frazier was KTFO'd by Foreman, whom Ali then knocked out?
You continue to show your slavish devotion to the zero at the end of Floyd's record, all in the name of "taking care of his family."

I have never said anything about floyds fight record, If you look at the other thread you will see who I think would win. I'm just not emotional about it as you guys are.
Yes I'm ok if a boxer is honest I fight for the money not the glory. Let's see, George Foreman signed a blank piece of paper in a bathroom promising him 5 million dollars from Don King. Let's see, hmmmm did he do it just to fight ALI? of did he do it for the money?

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
Manny should just do the tests and get the fight done.
I admire Floyd's stance regarding blood tests: If you have nothing to hide, why not take the tests, especially if both sides are doing them equally? Sure, it's not required by the state commission. But state boxing commissions are about as ethical and well run as local town boards or school boards. I've definitely changed my tune on this issue, as I was pro-Pac initially in that dispute.Last edited by pk500; 04-30-2010, 01:15 PM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather - Jim Rome Interview
You still keep holding on to this floyd ducking shane thing. Floyd called Shane out when Shane was on top. Fact. Shane said no. Fact. I understand why he said no, because floyd was not a big draw at that time and it was a high risk fight for shane. Shane didnt start saying floyd name until floyd became number 1 cash cow in boxing. Fact. Floyd even called out a prime oscar. Oscar said no, which i also understand. Gatti gave floyd his first big fight. I give gatti alot of credit because he didnt have to, and it was a bad match up for him. As for the paul williams thing, he is in the same boat as floyd was years ago. He is not a big draw, and he is a high risk fight for anybody.Comment
