Well folks, I had to do it. The return of Hajime no Ippo2

I recently returned one of if not thee best boxing title ever made. The glorious Hajime no Ippo 2: victorious road.

It was cool while it lasted, but it started getting kind of annoying trying to manage the diet and exercise which was all in japanese lol. I still cannot read Kanji and the mix of the rest of the japanese writing style. I can speak a couple of phrases to hold a very brief conversation, but reading it....nah.

I guess I could have held my wife (she is japanese) hostage while I played it and asked her to read everything for me, but that probably would've been a little overboard to say the least lol (I'm just playin)

There are three, not just one but three writing systems in japanese, and they use ALL of them mixed together to write phrases. Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana....yea figure that **** out.

They should've translated that game for stateside. Now that I think about it, I wonder if they're going to develop one for the PS3, that would be great!

I loved the 1st one, thought it was the best boxing sim at the time. You actually had to box, was very cool. I was totally disapointed in this one as all the diet etc....might be cool but I never could figure it out not speaking or reading japanese.

I still have to try it for the wii as wii boxing can be fun. But I guess Fight Night round 4 will have to hold me through for another month. I'll admit it watching "The Fighter" got me to pick it back up. That movie was scary if you watched that original HBO special and watched the fights.....first time I think Hollywood tried to make a movie too real.

Anyway the first game was the best.....didn't even bother me too much that it was a story where you had to play as only one character.....and I'm sure the 2nd is great, at least the fighting is. ....but I just couldn't figure out the diet and training in it.....but for what you got in trade or return probably was best to keep it and just play it every couple of months.

Have any of you played Victorious Boxers 2? It was called Allstars in Japan. It didn't have the deep career mode that HNI2 had, but the gameplay was improved dramatically.

I guess I have it mixed up. I thought that Hajime no Ipp2 was dumbed down and released in the states as Victorious boxers 2 all stars?

Well you have Hajime no Ippo 2:Victorious Road. This was a Japan release only and features the deep career mode with dieting and training. Then you have Hajime no Ippo: Allstars that was released in Japan. Allstars was released in the US under the name of Victorious Boxers 2: Fighting Spirit. Confusing stuff. I wish we would have gotten a US release of Victorious Road.

Have you heard any rumors of a PS3 version in the works? I dont see why they wouldn't. I swear, devs and publishers do some weird **** sometimes.

How did they settle on a decision to create a title for the WII? Seriously lol? Victorious Road should have been remade in HD for the PS3 if they didn't want to develop a completely new game.

I've tried to keep up with any news on a US release for the PS3 or at the very least a US release for the PS2, but only heard rumors. We were hoping to get something when the Wii version was announced or even the PSP games, but nothing. I couldn't agree more with the second part of your post. Just make Victorious Road in HD and translate to English. That would hold us over. I'm hoping with the announcement of Fight Night Champion that 2K or the developers of VB will step up and give EA some competition. Not that I don't have any faith in EA, but the more boxing games the better.

The more the better exactly. I'll keep you updated man, I'm in Japan as we speak and I've noticed that there's a bigger selection of games to choose from over here in most cases. They release lots of **** that we don't see in the states.

I've been getting my sherlock on trying to see if they already released a PS3 version. Yea, if you're into that type of thing, they have mass amounts of Gundam/Macross PS3 titles that we've NEVER heard of in the states. Type of **** that I like. You have to dig in the crates for it though.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Hajime for PS3 either already out or in development over here. As stated, I'll let you know if catch on to something.

LMAO at "getting my Sherlock on". That's awesome creep. Thanks for the info. I couldn't wait for Allstars to get a US release, so I ordered it from Japan with one of those fliptop lids for the PS2. You're probably right though. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were currently working on a PS3 version of VB or if they have already made one. I still don't understand why they get so many more games than the US. How long are you going to be in Japan?

Phobia, your best bet is Victorious Boxers 2: Fighting Spirit (Allstars for Japan). Not only is it really cheap, but they made a lot of improvements over the original VB. The character models alone really make a huge difference in the styles between the fighters. It's not perfect, but it does a ton of things right.
