Re: Well folks, I had to do it. The return of Hajime no Ippo2

Well, after a little more searching I found out that nothing is on the horizon reference a PS3 version of Hajime. I hope the sources are incorrect but whatever.

I did purchase victorious road again though and started a legacy. I know some of the sim heads are going to get me for saying this but, that diet and training program is a bit tedious. Trust me.

I just turn the weight coach on and let the computer dictate my diet. We're talking glucose levels, injuries, everything you can name you have to manage.

On another note, I found out that the PS3 is region free so there's a couple of japanese PS3 games I'll be getting shortly.

The diet portion can definitely be tedious - no doubt. Especially when you have to decipher it from Japanese.

But saying that, there's no reason why EA couldn't implement something similar without it being that in-depth.
It could be as simple as managing meals so that you reach x-amount of calories, with some meals having more fat than others. So you have to balance the meals properly.
And as your fighter grows older, it'll be harder and harder to keep their weight down. So you have to choose to starve your fighter to make weight (and possibly hurt their stamina and health), or move up and possibly lose some speed and power.

And all of this would be dictated by the size of your fighter and how much training you make them do between fights. If you're built like Hearns, of course you're going to outgrow 147.
But if you're built like Haglar, you should be able to stay in middleweight for your whole career.
And if you add things like 'personality' maybe some fighters don't want to be in the gym all the time so they're health will suffer and you won't be able to maximize their strengths if you force them to the gym a lot between fights. (eg. Ricky Hatton).
But some guys will be ring-rats so you'll have no problem keeping them in condition throughout the years.

Anyone know if VB2: Fight Spirit is backwards compatible with the PS3. I have the old 20Gb model so I know my system is backwards compatible.

What a amazing battle here. Green trunks clearly has the speed, works the jab, and does some good fast combos. While Grey trunks is slower and continues to look for that big KO.

1:13 - Love how he gets hit and it stumble him and puts him on noodle legs for a sec.

3:28 - He gets hit again and stumbles him but worse this time.

4:20 - A hard straight drives him back shaken.

5:00 - Big straight right drives his head back and rocks him.

5:04 - Green trucks unloads on Grey trunks as he has him pinned in the corner.

6:02 - Green trunks lands a perfect jab that stumbles his opponent. He then lands a flurry of big shots as the guy in the Grey trunks is hurt.

6:39 - Green trunks lands HUGE over hand right and then goes into punishing his opponent against the turnbuckle. Which then finally puts his opponent on the mat.

8:40 - Green trunks finally manages to KO his opponent with a big straight.

The gameplay in VB2 is a bit too fast and could be tonned down. But it's still very realistic.
I still feel it's the best boxing game as far as representing styles.

Just looking at that video, you can see a huge difference between a puncher and a boxer.
And it was very cool trying to figure out a strategy to beat each style. What made that chore easier was the fact you could watch tape of your upcoming opponent.

VB2 is nearly 10 years old and it still has so many great elements that we've never seen in a north american boxing title.

Yea, I wish I would of got into it back in the day. But I have always been a xbox fan. So I did not messed with PS2 much. Now I am just trying to find out if it is backward compatible with my PS3. If sooooo, then I am going to be bustin some heads.

I honestly think it is slightly fast but by a very small margin. I think part of what makes it look so realistic is the speed. When you see a real fight. The hands and arms are damn near blurs most the time. So I like seeing the fast speed.

If you can get by the language barrier you'll have a great time with the training portion.
                It's awesome!

I can't find anyone that has played it in their PS3. So I am unsure if I will be able to play it. Even though I want to badly.

I've been searching to see if it's B/C too. At one time I believe I read it was.
If I find anything I'll let you know.

The game's career mode is so ridiculously deep you could get lost for days.
They have every real belt known to man (even the WBA Super-Champ).
This includes regional belts. If you're fighting out of Japan, they have all the Japanese belts.
And what's even cooler is that your fighters size is dependent on your country of origin. So don't expect to create a heavyweight from Tokyo.

If you have a PS2, I have a fliptop and a burned copy of the game if you want it?

Thanks Money for looking also. I wish I had a PS2, but I don't. If I did then I would just go buy the game and not worry about if it was backwards compatible or not. But that is kind of why I have to find out, because I only have a 360, PS3, and PC

Man. That was great to watch.

This game did soo many things right.

Look at the speed of that footwork. he was able to get in and out with ease. Very fluid and elusive lateral movement. It was a beautiful thing to watch.

The jab and the 1-2 combo were also sweet.

These are the things i pray that fight night eventually incorporates into their game.

Differentiate between every style of boxer, not just with animations but with ratings as well.
Lateral movement, i hate to keep repeating myself but you saw how smoothly green trunks was able to get out of the corner. EA needs to loosen up the "lock on" that each boxer has on each other. You saw in this video how the slugger had to readjust his "aim" when green trunks used lateral movement. Thats realistic and necessary for boxing games

Trust me the movement was nothing like this. I wish! But its just not how it is designed. Still can utilize a "strategy", it is just not at this pace

Tight video I must say. Hell, you have me wanting to post some of my own now lol.

I'm not there yet though. I juuust created a boxer, they move slow as molasses right now, I've only had 1 two round fight with him so far. Had to completely start over because I forgot to buy a memory card for the japanese system, the american card didn't seem to want to work. I'm all set now.
