Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

The demo is growing on me the more i play, i finally managed to KO Cotto in the 3rd with Manny (flash KO).

I'm still having some problems with the stick as i'm too used to FN4 and in fact i still think i had more control in FN4 and i throw punches that i don't want to in FNC, with having all the punches that close with little movement differences in the stick.

Checking my stats against Cotto in this fight, i see we are more or less equal in all kind of punches thrown (even same 99 to 99 jabs) but there is something that showed me fast how i'm not used to the new stick, i threw 73 right hooks!!!

I then proceeded to counter him 14 times over the remaining 2.5 rounds, land 40 power shots, land 65% of my punches to 40%, and not win a single judge (neither player was stunned after the initial one).

I can live with me being stunned and not stunning Ali (even though I landed FAR more big clean shots. That annoys me, but it happens). However, the fact that I still couldn't win even a single judge in the remaining 2 rounds was atrocious. Online needs draws
I don't even know if stunning an opponent factors in to the judges decisions. In the last deciding round of a fight I out percentaged a guy 70%-45%, outlanded him by 15,and lost, maybe because he outcountered me 9-1.

The right cross (right straight) will turn into a right hook if you're not far enough away to fully extend the arm. It's not your input, it's your spacing.

This right here! I just haven't been able to mentally unwrap myself from the FNR4 controls. In FNC I'm throwing jabs and/or hooks when I try to block because I'm trying to cover my head still. I think once I can get past the simplicity of the new controls I will begin to enjoy this much more.

I'm glad you brought that up. Last night I threw a left-jab to the body and it turned into a hook. I eventually figured out why and I loved it. Great stuff!

Now will they please release more info on Legacy mode??? I want to hear some of the fixes they've done in the past 2 years.

With the way the demo is now. I can honestly say I am SOOOOO pumped for Legacy mode. I will enjoy each and every fighter I face through my career. Lets just hope each fighter has his own style and makes fighting each one feel unique

Since i know i like it and will be purchasing; the demo will be deleted so I can still have a 'newness' to the game when I get it.

I've had at least 2 draws online soo the feature is definitely in the demo.

Okay, I'm in the middle of a strange relationship with this game.

A few nights ago when I encountered that 500+ punch guy, I totally soured on the game. Since then though, I've gotten better and taken on the idea to just box. I was already doing that before, but at times I allowed myself to get caught up in a slugfest. Even though the footwork isn't where it should be, I've noticed the game really rewards you for playing sim, picking your spots, and not using bad fundamentals (not moving your head, not getting in and out, etc).

Last night I played 4 fights online. I got dropped twice in one fight using Cotto against Pacquiao and actually enjoyed it. I wish we could save replays because the second knockdown was a left hand square on the middle of Cotto's face and it was hilarious.

*Side note on that fight: The guy's GT was Eman (there were also some numbers) and I swear we have an Eman on OS. If you're out there, I want a rematch.

Also, I picked apart an Ali user with Tyson and made him whiff on a ton of punches because I kept getting inside, doing work, then getting out quickly. I eventually wore him out and took advantage when he was fatigued and dropped him with a nice jab, right body hook, left hook to the temple combo. It felt pretty damn satisfying.

So I might have been a little wrong on the fatigue/stamina, but I think what happened with the 500 punch guy was that he was landing a lot of shots, so that didn't affect his stamina nearly as much as it would have if he would have missed more. Also, and maybe it's because it's a 3 round fight, I feel stamina might recharge too quickly. I guess we'll see when the full game comes out.

The scoring really needs work. A round I should have won anyway wasn't given to me even though I stunned the guy.

Does hurting your opponent have any weight in the scoring?

Someone mentioned this earlier, but I don't think you can get a draw online. I thought I did early on, but I think it might have been from an exhibition fight. There have been a handful of cases where I clearly won 2 rounds, but had one 10-8 against me, and when it went to decision, instead of a draw, the judges gave that first round that I CLEARLY won to the other guy to prevent a draw.

                            Can anyone else support this?

I can... I'm not sure why vast keeps saying he's gotten multiple draws online. I'm not sure what his motivation is, except that he's just mistaken.

If anyone wants to get online and test out the draw/no draw theory and settle it once and for all I'm around (despite the fact that I'm 99% sure the FNC devs confirmed no draws online in a chat yesterday, I'm still willing to test it).

I also hope the cpu chills out a touch. I wouldn't be getting these punch totals in the demo if the cpu wasn't forcing it. Ali moving in on me constantly and pretty much forcing me to throw punches. There doesn't seem to be any in and out, or at least any in and out without commiting to actually throwing punches by the cpu. My punch total are always lower than the cpu, but higher than they would be normally because of their pressure.
