Re: Fight Night Champion Sliders Not Working
I can't remember the first game I tinkered with sliders in, but from that point til now. If I'm going to play a sports game, I need the sliders. I would rather have a game with no music, no commentators, no halftime show, no homerun camera, and no dozens of other potential presentation settings. As long as I have working sliders, I can make the game play exactly what I deem to be fun. In my case, a "realistic challenge". A level where you go into every fight, match, game, or anything else, knowing that you have an equal chance of losing as you do winning. But at the same time, your losses will not come from the CPU AI knowing your plays ahead of time, having super stats in crunch time, forced comeback logic, the list goes on.
I strongly believe one of the subtle, not so talked about reasons that the Show and NBA 2k11 are so revered and praised as the ultimate successes in sports-simulation gaming is because everyone, with the options and sliders that these games provide, end up with a game that becomes completely suited to their liking. EA, for all of their money, manpower, and licenses, have yet to figure out the concept of working sliders. The fact Fight Night is still based on a 1 - 10 system is asinine in and of itself. How "custom" and to your liking can you really make something with only 10 clicks to choose from? It's one thing for them to only have 10 clicks, and it's one thing for them to not be anywhere near as effective as they should be (hey guys, remember me? I'm Fight Night Round 4's "0" setting for counter punch window, and yet, I still existed and you got to see lightning hit the ring every 3 seconds like Zeus was ringside causing it every time he cheered). But for them to flat out do almost nothing? Completely unacceptable. I read this earlier today and hoped for the best. Now that I've attempted it myself? Every bit as bad as everyone is describing it.
The people I feel the worst for are two types. One, the people that don't even know what a forum is, let alone that they exist for video games, sports games, simulation gamers, sliders, etc. Two, just as bad, people that don't have access to download tuner sets and/or patches. The game they bought today is the game they'll always have.
I don't care how big EA sports is, or better yet, how big they think they are. You can always fall. Ask any of the dozens of business that are much bigger than EA, that had to declare bankruptcy, close down, downsize, or need huge bailouts to continue to exist. EA is now just as well known as a gimmick pushing video game company that only cares about appealing to the casual fan for profits, as they are for anything else. They don't actually care about the sport they're "trying" to re-create, and it shows every year. They just make video clips of them talking about when they fell in love with this sport or when they started watching that sport, etc. Guess what? Watching the Food Network for 10 years won't make you an expert chef, will it? So why do these guys think having never put on a pair of boxing gloves that they're in some way qualified to define what's simulation and what makes for a realistic game? If they understood, they wouldn't have to create an 8 hour motion picture inside of a game to get sales. It's very, painfully obvious that they don't understand most of the sports they're trying to re-create.
Congratulations EA. Much like where you're at with football nowadays. You're the only company that even puts out boxing games anymore, and you still manage to make people wish for a non existent game or game company to come along and make one better, often just to put you away for good and leave their sport alone. Pat yourself on the back, you've done it again. The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Sliders Not Working
Only way to correct this issue with out the global slider working is through the boxer Tendencies Sliders. I still don't know how you would do Legacy with this. I guess you would be limited to Quick Fights only.
I had a blast last night fighting my OWC fights.
Fought a guy who was a button users and threw so much he was soooo exhausted by the 5th round. I KOed him in the 6th with two knock downs!!!Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Sliders Not Working
The sliders are definitely a mystery. I just got the game last night and the only thing I did so far was run a cpu vs. cpu bout between Winky Wright and Miguel Cotto. I bumped their tendencies all the way down to zero to see how low I could get punch output. The output was acceptable(Cotto threw less than 40 in some rounds), but Wright was a little more active in every round. I'm not sure why that would be(Aggressiveness?). Maybe that's just a ratings issue. Plus Wright threw mostly straight punches while Cotto threw mostly jabs. Why would they focus more on those punches when I had bumped the tendency for EVERY punch down to zero? Strange. I'm at work now but I'll play around some more tonight.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Sliders Not Working
Arm Fatigue only works by throwing punches over and over with one arm. Another words if you throw 10 right hooks over and over the punch will get slower. But it does nothing as far as over the course of a fight.Comment

I don't have the game yet, nor have I played the Demo. So, the boxer's arms don't have the heavy hard to defend feel to them. They don't lower or they are hard tgo keep up after a huge punch output?Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment
