Re: Have to give props...Great Tuner

Don't judge the purchase on online or if legacy is fixed because the tuner doesn't address the legacy stuff I have encountered (freezes and such) and online will always be what it is, good and extremely bad.

For online I avoid guys with freaky names and high reach. I never fight anyone with a much higher rating then me because you can get beat down easy. But I have to say they really give you ways to fight legitimately and win. The only problem I see is the abuse of the power straight. If you get cut you will get a TKO because the punch is so harsh. But if you can avoid it they will get tired.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Still haven't seen a 1 punch KO since the tuner. We may have to up the cut ratings of all licensed boxers. Seen alot of TKO's, but against Holyfiled who has a 100 cut & swelling rating, I wasn't able to cut him in multiple fights. Had some great fights last night against the AI.

Looks like all you may have to do is up each licensed fighters cut rating by 10% or so. Cut ratyings in the 80's get carved up a buit too much even with the damage slider cranked down.

If you are an offline fighter, this will be worth it for you to take the time and edit these guys.

I bet they do, but I don't know. Champion mode is just a story/tutorial though. It lasts about 4 hours tops and I could write a thesis on why wasting time and resources on it as opposed to Legacy mode was a terrible idea.

It's not that it's not enjoyable. I'm sure it is. But when you look at what time it takes to complete it, and the low replay value, and then the time and resources they put into it, you can't help but wonder what legacy could have been if they put that time there.

I thought champion mode was basically story/cab mode? Then what the hell is the legacy mode you guys talk about?

Champion mode is a cheezy Don King Prize Fighter II story mode tutorial. Legacy mode is taking a boxer and moving up or down in the rankings choosing your fgighter, training, etc. Its not that great either. They should have put the resources into Legacy Mode.

This basically shows how useless the Legacy Mode is. Even fans of this series aren't sure what Legacy Mode is.
I don't know many people that follow the NBA2K series who would ask "What's My Player mode?".

I've bored enough people here on my thoughts about the importance of a deep Career mode in boxing, but to me, the sport was made for this kind of mode.

There's always a tonne of trash talking, back-stabbing, partying, over training, injuries, broken contracts, etc that comes with the sport.
And that's not even counting the training/diet aspect of boxing.

The FN series has done a horrible poor job in representing all the sport has to offer outside the ring.
All that time, energy and money that was spent on Champions Mode could have made FNC great for us offliners. Instead we got, like fist said, PrizeFighter II.

I truly believe if EA made a Legacy Mode as deep, or deeper than NBA2K12's My Player mode, the game would sell a heck of a lot better.
Show consumers that you can trash talk during press conferences, get commercial endorsements, skip out on training to date a super-model or work with diet to move up or down in weight to gain more titles and I believe you have a major winner on your hands.
And that doesn't even include adding a Managers mode where you'd have to handle several different fighters, their personalities (getting them to the gym to train) and manage their way to title shots.

There's a goldmine waiting to happen here. I just wish someone in EA had the vision to do this.

Ha, not yet. I've seen it on sale around town so I might.
I'm taking off on vacation for a week so I shouldn't buy any games right now.

I may still pick it up later though. I have GoW3 coming in and then Batman and then NBA2K12, but I'll try to pick this up around Christmas time.

Reading your thoughts after the tuner has me excited.
Have you run any tournaments since the new tuner?

Gonna run a HW tourney when I get time. Should be able to put together a field of 32 for that.

I actually run it off-line by myself. I rank the boxers 1 to 32 and put them in a bracket, then I put the difficulty on GOAT and go at it. I flip a coin fo which boxer I control.

I ran a welterweight one when the game first came out....Had great results with a final 4 of Hearns, Paq, Floyd, and Paul Williams.

Hearns won on 12th round KO over Floyd in the finals.

I got my money out of this game with that tourney alone. The boxers I controlled only had about a 40% win % in the tourney. I had those sliders dialed in. I am going to get this going once I get some time again to edit all licensed boxers cut rating up by 10% and tweaking the sliders after the last tuner.
