Not to mention, Garcia suffered a pretty bad cut. No telling how they would have played into the fight had it continued. Khan fought back, and landed some good shots after getting up off the canvas. Garcia was just swinging crazy left haymakers, and landing. Why didn't Khan clinch, and try to regain his stability, I praise him for going out on his shield, but that's when he has to understand to hold.

Mayweather - damn near broke Mosley's arms when he locked em up after being rocked in the 2nd round of their fight. He actually got rocked twice in that round and only survived because held and locked Mosley's arms. Khan would've been wise to study that.

I don't understand the push for Khan to move up to 147 when he is getting dropped at 140. Maybe I'm missing something.

I don't know if Floyd got rocked and held on for dear life as you describe. Floyd tends to clinch to stifle any momentum. Many good boxers are rhythm guys, they get it going and move forward. What's the best way to stop that momentum in the ring?

That's what I like about Mayweather the most... his ability to take a punch and hide it's effect. That and his defense.

You would think it's easy to tie up, like hey!! ''just grab the guy'' LOL. It's not.

Khan was too aggressive. He didn't fight a good tactical fight. he didn't stick to outboxing and using his jab. he stayed inside too long and he's not a good inside fighter. He never rematched Prescott, i wonder if he'll even try to rematch Garcia.

No way Garcia wins that bout if Khan has world-class power. But he didn't feel much of an effect from Khan's punches, took his time, and walked him down.

Garcia is going to be a fun fighter to watch for a while and I'm glad he's finally stepped up to take his career to a higher level.

For Khan, I hope he moves up to 147 and can put the pieces back together. I still think he has great skills and he's certainly very entertaining.
I'd hate to see him erode into the shadows.
Nice post. Last night I gave Garcia a 35% chance to win...when it turns out all he needed was 20% LOL.

I don't think Khan's power is that bad, it's just that Garcia can take a punch. The punch Khan got caught with was nice... right in the ear and where the jawline starts. A very difficult punch to absorb.

Watch that second round again. He got rocked. It actually was the only time I remember Floyd getting rocked since the "Money" era began.

Exactly. I don't think many people take that punch clean.

No, Khan has no chin and lacks power. He couldn't keep Peterson off him which ultimately lead to his defeat. He couldn't keep Garcia off him last night, same thing. The chin issue is very hard to overcome. At first you think its a fluke but when he continues to get wobbled, its hard to not believe its real.

Cotto was wobbled by Corley in their bout but as other fights went on in Cotto's career he overcame it.

Khan will still be a viable opponent in boxing, he just isn't top tier.

Maybe I have a different view of what 'rocked' means. Floyd got caught, and held but I don't think anything about that punch did to him what it happened to Khan last night. Khan lost his composure, was rubberized and ultimately couldn't respond quickly to the referees commands. I never felt Floyd was in that predicament.

All the skills in the world don't matter if you can't take a punch....Khan needs to change his style like wlad klitschko did. stay on the outside, pick your spots, fight smart. it's not as exciting, obviously, but if the chin is your weakness you got to protect it!

IMO The ref was right to stop the fight, Khan was hurt. With that said, he did respond in time. His response was almost the exact same as his second time down.

One thing for sure it was an exciting fight while it lasted.
