What your talking about? Their is hella fights at 140... Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Lucas Mattysshe, Juan Manuel Marquez, Lamont Peterson, Zab Judah... 140 is going to be the division what will make him a star if he overcomes it.. Forget about 147 right now

Rios, Khan or Garcia not interesting at 140?

I mean do you really think he'd be matched with Pac, FLoyd, or Marquez?

You know, I just glanced at the weight classes and key guys in each weight again, and I take back what I said earlier. I was wrong - I do think 140 might be more interesting going forward for Broner. 147 right now has the bigger name guys, but there are probably more guys closer to their excitement prime in 140 right now than in 147 (all of who were mentioned above). By the time Broner would get fights against the biggest guys at 147 (Pac, Mayweather, Marquez) they would be all well past their prime - which they probably already are. On the other hand, Garcia, Khan, Matthysse, Peterson etc. are all at/near their primes right now, and those fights could conceivably happen in the very near future (as opposed to dealing w/ Arum for Pac or Floyd). So maybe going up to 147 to fight Paulie Mallignaggi isn't in his best interest right now...

Paulie also is a colorful personality. And he's also white, which is important since boxing still plays on race arguably more than any other sport.

Kelly Pavlik, Andy Lee, Mike Lee (what a joke) and a few others have been the latest and greatest "Great White Hopes." Nationality/race always is brought up when a Puerto Rican fights a Mexican.

And don't forget that Manny Pacquiao's nickname through the mid-2000s was "The Mexicutioner" because he beat top Mexican fighters Barrera, Morales and Marquez.

Yup. Boxing is as primitive as the WWF when it comes to racial politics. Can never underestimate that....

Rios is a Top Rank fighter so that would never happen. Garcia and Khan are possibilities.

I'm pretty ignorant of who is represented by Top Rank and who is represented by Golden Boy.

But you're right, unless tensions subside, fights like Rios-Broner won't happen.

I would hope Rios is smart enough to see what Arum did to Manny and if the money is right take a fight with Broner or anyone else at GBP.

Wont happen. Rios has a long deal with TR and Arum seems to decide when and who his fighters fight.

Sigh, if only he was a heavyweight. I would put up with him doing just about anything if there was a legitimate US heavyweight. So sick of watching the Klitchko's fight at 4:30 in the afternoon on saturday in Europe. Slightly OT, but it's his money and I'm sure his entourage is there somewhere to collect those soggy bills....I hope.
