Apparently Gennady Golovkin's next victim(Osumanu Adama) trains in my town.

    Just wanted to share

Yeah, GGG shouldn't have any trouble with that guy. Interesting enough, Cleverly's fight was on the undercard.

GGG is impressive. But he SERIOUSLY needs to fight someone more highly notable or challenging. I wanna see him against some serious competion.

That can kind of drain your confidence.
That reminds me of a Michael Moorer story from his early years.
While an amateur middleweight, he was brought in by Emanual Steward to prepare his fighter, Darnell Knox for the NABF middleweight title against Michael Nunn.
In their first sparring session, Moorer knocked Knox out.
That really rattled Knox's confidence so to build him back up, Steward paid Moorer to stay away from the gym by going to the movies, lounging, anything but coming to the gym.
After a week of that and with Knox's confidence back on track, they brought Moorer back into the gym.
They figured with Moorer not having trained for a week and Knox getting sharper, an easy sparring session against the amateur would help Knox rebuild his confidence.
But Moorer knocked Knox out again.
Nunn went on to stop Knox in 4 rounds and Steward has been on record saying he believed it was due to his hardships against Moorer.

Wow, I see it was Knox's last fight.

Mismatch or not I'd love to see Floyd Sr beat the crap out of that guy.

Might as well swing by the gym and see if you can check it out when he hits the bag or spars or whatever. And give us the inside info. Possibly clue us in to some hot wagering tips....

I have a tip. Don't bet against GGG in this one. Rumors are Golovkin will fight James Kirkland in April when he gets past this victim. Kirkland will be a big test.

Is that on the Bute-Pascal undercard?

EDIT: I just noticed Denton Daily's fight is the 15th of February, making it somewhat impossible to be on the Bute-Pascal Card. (A fight that has been extremely boring for the first 5 rounds. I have to go back to sleep to have the energy to finish it).

Bute looked uninspired and terrible until the last round, but his talk of wanting a rematch is laughable. Try fighting 12 rounds instead of one.

When asked about fighting Adonis Stevenson, Pascal just heaped praise on him, didn't even respond to the question of a potential fight. He ended with a shout out for "Superman Stevenson".

Mike Perez was lucky to get a draw last night against Carlos Takam. This was his first fight back since his tragic fight with Magomed Abdusalamov. Takam just outworked him, but Perez didn't look that sharp.

Pascal is smart. Stevenson would walk right through him. Bute looked old and slow and he couldn't hurt him. Stevenson will walk him down with ease.

I think Perez may have been concust after the head butt. He did not seem to be the same after that. He was very lucky to get the draw.

Maybe last night was more the real Perez...I mean, these Cuban trained fighters just aren't that exciting, and its possible he just looked exciting against Mago because Mago forced that to be an action fight. Similar situation to Erislandy Lara looking exciting against Angulo - it was because of Angulo that he was so watchable. But I agree its impossible to know what the hangover from the Mago fight was, and maybe he was concussed by the head butt.

Bute's performance was crap. He has been fully exposed at this point as a fabricated star who can't hang against top flight competition. Why he didn't do in the entire fight what he did in the last round I have no idea, but my guess is he's gun-shy of getting into wars since the Froch fight. He honestly just looked scared to me all night, not wanting to risk or engage at all. There's no point to a rematch, and as for Pascal not calling out Stevenson.….I have no idea. I don't like his chances, but if he ever wants to be anything other than 2nd tier, he's gonna have to step up.

Possible concussion, but I give Takam credit for a smart fight. Hate to see a guy that big with such mediocre power though.

Yeah, how quickly they fall. Bute had a pretty good ShoTime deal. I hope he saved his money.

PS: Was it just me who thought that Bute looked like the toupeed Rocky Marciano in the Ali computer fight? The only difference was Bute looked older.
