To Atlas's credit, he picked Canelo pre-fight but said after the bout that he didn't do enough to win.

I bow in homage to JayBee: That undercard was chicken-fried crap. Spot on, dude!

There was a rematch clause, regardless.

Moretti and Trella's cards were believable. GGG lost early rounds because I've never seen him so nervous or tentative at the start of a fight.

But then he realized Canelo didn't have the power to attack him and switched from pressure mode to stalking. Classic GGG. But Golovkin made one mistake throughout the fight: He didn't go to the body enough.

GGG could have won this fight handily on Moretti and Trella's cards if he went to the body more. That would have neutralized Canelo's effective counterpunching, which won him at least two of the last three rounds.

Adalaide Byrd never should judge another major fight. But she's married to prominent Nevada referee Robert Byrd, a favorite of the commission, and will continue to get work despite her blatant incompetence.

Canelo-GGG II on Cinqo de Mayo weekend next May. In Vegas. Mark it down. Sign me up.

Tonight was a fun, competitive fight. Anyone who called it boring doesn't know an effing thing about boxing. Both guys threw big shots. Few landed because both guys are far better boxers than most think. But shots were thrown, landed and traded. Other than huge blows landing and a guy on the canvas, there wasn't much more you could ask from that fight.

By the way, I had it 115-113, Golovkin.

The mob controlled boxing from the 1920s through the early 1960s. This is nothing new.

Hmmm....I never put those two Byrds together.

The world's highest-paid athlete is a boxer. Anthony Joshua-Wladimir Klitschko drew 90,000 paid fans to Wembley for their bout earlier this year. ESPN just signed a four-year deal to broadcast Top Rank fights. The two highest-grossing PPV combat sport events in history were boxing matches.

Yep, boxing is on life support, all right. Way to regurgitate that tired, false narrative foisted on you by every lazy media member in America.

As I did with Mattheyse and Thurman I have to adjust GGG's power rating a bit.
Where the hell was GGG's body attack? Was this the same guy who nearly paralyzed Matthew Macklin with a liver shot?

Dude, this is far from her first harebrained decision. Teddy was right on ESPN: She'll work major fights again in Nevada, probably before the end of this year.

The Nevada commission is a joke. Sad, as it used to be the best in America.

I didn't know Teddy said that. Yeah I know she's rendered awful decsions.

Yes, the decision was dubious, at best. But let's not lose sight of an overarching fact of the Canelo-GGG bout: That was a really good, competitive fight among two of the very best practitioners of the Sweet Science in the world.

Canelo-GGG II on Cinco de Mayo weekend next May, in Vegas. Book it!

Aside from the underwhelming undercard, the fight was pretty good. Not as great as I thought it would be but still pretty good and worthy of a rematch.
